Necromorph Slasher
Dead Space 2 (Neca) - Basic Series
Rated 4.00 stars by moviemaniacx
As a huge fan of Dead Space, this figure gets points for merely existing. The Dead Space series has long been forgotten so to have it immortalized in plastic (along with Isaac Clarke) is an amazing treat. That being said the figure is cool but leaves a lot to be desired. It’s rather flimsy and lacks a base, which is a damn shame. A grotesque, infected metal base would really make the figure pop. Regardless this is a wild figure that fits right in with any The Thing display....[See More]
Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Neca) - Ultimate Collection
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
While Freddy's Revenge is one of the worst of the NOES series, this figure is aces. It has Freddy in a threatening pose with a magnetic hell flame that attaches to his back. I have him set up with the Freddy vs Jason flaming machete Jason and it looks incredible. Additionally, he comes with two alternate heads and two nightmare dogs who are weird and creepy. A great sculpt and likeness of Robert Englund plus an excellent paint job. NECA cannot be topped right now....[See More]
Mummy (Mummy Returns)
Now Playing (SOTA) - Series 2
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
SOTA really hit their stride with Series 2 of their Now Playing line. Here Imhotep sits upon a gorgeously detailed sandy base that features scarabs erupting from it. The scarabs were always one of the creepy-crawliest parts of the Mummy movies and to have them recreated in plastic is personally amazing. The sculpt itself is great but doesn’t have enough holes in his decaying body as one would like. He comes with a mini spear-wielding Pygmy mummy figure who joins him in battle upon his base. Absolutely badass!...[See More]
Library Ghost
Ghostbusters (Diamond Select) - Series 5
Rated 4.50 stars by moviemaniacx
I’ve loved this ghost ever since it terrified me as a kid. The sculpt is superb and the stack of books (that no one would stack like this) is the perfect accessory. The support stand is weak and doesn’t hold the weight of the figure which is why it doesn’t get a 5/5. I highly recommend this figure, diorama or not because it’s the coolest looking ghost figure outside of Slimer....[See More]
Stuntman Mike
Cult Classics (Neca) - Series 7
Rated 4.00 stars by moviemaniacx
A solid sculpt but lack of accessories and articulation really limits what could’ve been an amazing figure. Mike just kinda stands there and has no base to stand upon. The likeness of Kurt Russell is good with the sunglasses head but the alternate head is a bit off in that it looks too young. It resembles a young Jack Burton more than the older Stuntman Mike. On top of that Mike’s cigarette is one of the most fragile things I’ve ever seen and should’ve been a metal rod if they were going to make it that thin. Here’s what I would’ve done: a boxed set with his ‘70 Chevy Nova or ‘69 Charger pointing in a recreation of the “that was fun!” scene. Alternatively do a similar, more poseable figure with an asphalt highway base, Mike’s black book, photos and his trademark Icy Hot jacket (though...[See More]
Eddie (Trooper)
McFarlane's Music (McFarlane) - Iron Maiden
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
My favorite figure from McFarlane’s Music line, we have Eddie in the iconic Trooper pose, ready to eviscerate you with his saber and splintered flagpole. The sculpt is superb and the reds and blues just pop along with the Iron Maiden floating logo. He sits upon a gorgeously detailed battlefield base with a fallen soldier’s hands and backpack. I can’t recommend this figure enough!...[See More]
Flukeman (McFarlane Club)
X-Files - Fight the Future (McFarlane) - Exclusives
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
A perfect recreation of the most memorable X-Files monster-of-the-week from the episode "The Host" (S2E2). This creature has always creeped me out with his gaping, parasitic maw and his piercing green eyes, which go extremely well with the slimy green, highly detailed brick sewer base. This makes Flukeman an imposing and unique figure that I highly recommend....[See More]
Wizard and Scientist
McFarlane's Monsters (McFarlane) - Series 2 - Twisted Land of Oz
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
This figure holds a special place in my heart with its vibrant emerald colors. Objectively it’s a typical mad scientist-type figure but I think it looks so cool and fits with lots of my other figures. The face underneath his gas mask is creepy and I dig his impish munchkin minion as well. They come with a cane, emerald needle, rusty scalpel and yellow brick road base....[See More]
Otis
Devil's Rejects (Neca) - Basic Series
Rated 3.00 stars by moviemaniacx
The sculpt is a great likeness of Bill Moseley but the arms are flimsy pieces of junk that try to offer articulation but fail horribly at it. Otis comes with two handguns, a Bowie knife and an assault rifle plus a dented 55 gallon drum. I’m disappointed there aren’t any severed limbs or faces considering the mayhem he causes. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool figure but I expected better quality from NECA....[See More]
Rasputin
McFarlane's Monsters (McFarlane) - Series 3 - Six Faces of Madness
Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx
Probably my favorite figure from the 6 Faces of Madness series, even over Elizabeth Bathory. The figure lacks substantial articulation but in this case it doesn’t matter with the wild pose they chose. Rasputin hangs from a beam by his back hooks above a spiked wooden floor with a supremely creepy workbench. It’s unique and different from almost every other figure I have and acts as the perfect centerpiece for my display. He comes with a few accessory vials that sit in the workbench but everything else is fully sculpted. Another aces figure from McFarlane....[See More]
