OrionDC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 1

Buzzy_FretI can't believe Mattel offered Darkseid's son / nemesis Orion in the first wave of the new DC Universe Classic (DCUC for short) line! And I'm ecstatic that they did. Orion has been a DC favorite of mine since I was a young 'un. I distinctly remember owning the very first issue of Jack Kirby's New Gods and the image of Orion sailing through the stars on the cover made a huge impression on me.
Mattel has done an incredible job on this figure and the 4 Horsemen design is extremely accurate. Orion doesn't have a lot of details but what he has they nailed. If this is an indication on how the future figures of the DCUC line are going to be made then I think Mattel is going to give Hasbro ML a lot of competition. Maybe Mattel will get the Marvel License next.

Henchmen4HireEveryone's favorite immortal/psychic vampire/genetic-engineering-genius/soul-reaver/evil-incarnate is finally put into a respectable scale! What's that Mr Sinister?...I must write a sparkling review about you or you'll eat my soul?...sounds reasonable...
Just when I thought Thor was a tall as they came, Sinister comes along and tops him at 7.2 inches! He is massive, the muscle is perfect, and the detail is amazing. His pale face is chiseled out of gravestone while the chrome-red eyes shine brightly like the red jewel on his forehead. He has that classic 80's flat-top hair and even a goatee. I couldn't find any paint-flaws on him (since not much of him is painted anyway, lol). There is intricate scroll-work on his chrome-red belt, blue rubber shoulderpads, and gloves. The blood-red stone...[

Apocalypse [Build-A-Figure]Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 12 - Apocalypse Series

VariablePenguinMarvel Legends BAF Apocalypse Lower Torso
This may seem odd to review a part of a figure, but it came as it's own thing so that's how I'm reviewing it. First, it fits into the upper torso well and the hoses attach to it from the arms well. The legs fit into the ball joints well also. Here's the real problem though, those ball joint REALLY do not want to move. I broke one of them off just trying to get his legs up. I've had to crack it apart (which is a real pain because I had to remove it from the upper body first) and rebuild the pivot point. I really wish toy companies would give their figures a few good joint moves in the factory to losen up any heat expansion problems and paint build up. This part of Apocalypse would be very cool if it weren't screwing me over and making me...[

Henchmen4HireA question for you folks who paid over 20 dollars online for Kitty, did you think it was worth it? When I first saw her released, she looked as big as the other 6-inch Marvel Legends ladies. I guessed she's 20-something years-old now so it makes sense that she should be 6-inches, but she's actually shorter than that, by about a quarter-inch. Is she short in the comics or is this Kitty from a few years ago, when she was still a teenager?...and still called Shadowcat, hah. I dont know, but this is a great figure. I'm glad I waited to get mine for way less than 20 bucks though :P
Kitty stands about 5.75 inches to the top of her loose, dark-brown, flowing hair. It is very well-sculpted and has lighter-brown highlights. Her eyes are a smokey-grey and she has full, pouty, pink lips. She has...[

Beast (X3)Marvel Legends (Hasbro) - Annihilus Series

Henchmen4Hire:( See that sad face? That says it all. I like Beast as a character so I won't hold anything against him due to Hasbro's inexperience with the Marvel Legends line. This version of Beast was modeled after the X-Men 3 movie, and in appearance they did a pretty good job. He looks like a guy with fur on him, he even resembles Kelsey Grammer to an extent, but the face is a little too narrow and generally too small, you could easily use this head on a 5-inch scale custom and it wouldn't look out of place. The huge, major, I'm-gonna-git-you-sucka' part about this figure is that he's too short! 5.80 inches is NOT acceptable for a Beast figure. Granted though, I have never held an official X3 movie figure like Rogue or Cyclops to measure, this Beast could be perfectly in-scale with them. That may...[

Henchmen4HireThe only Hercules I know is Kevin Sorbo, that's the Herc I know, that's the Herc I love. I heard of Marvel's Hercules but I knew he wouldn't have the same personality, still, that didn't keep me from buying this figure!
Herc stands about 6.75 inches to the top of his head, and about 7 inches if you count his hair. This dude is massive! When they say he can go toe-to-toe with Thor and Hulk, they aren't kidding! From the few pictures I've seen, this figure looks exactly like it's supposed to, it's mostly very neatly-crafted as well. The picture on the package shows he has dark-brown hair but the actual toy has reddish-brown hair instead and the blue eyes are decently painted. Aside from that, everything looks great! Herc is ripped with veins bulging out of his arms. He has a big hysterical...[

colten frostI’m sorry I was under the impression that Emma Frost was beautiful, sultry, and seductive, the White Queen, not the high queen of the adult diaper enterprise! It is atrocious, not only dose she have chicken legs and an butt to block out the sun, she’s also sent to much time in Africa because she also possess a severely shrunken head and the arms of an orangutan, not to mention the complexion of Bob Barker (the walking corps) they make bronzer for a reason or just go out side any which way darken that skin Please, Her hands are oversized as well. Please don’t get me started on that hair I’m well aware she’s a bottle hoe but for god-sake she doesn’t have straw on her head! Her joints are NOT up to Marvel Legends standers, yes the huge butts were a problem at the beginning but we came to...[

IbukiStreet Fighter (SOTA Toys) - Round 4

Henchmen4HireAs we all know, no fighting game is complete without a few ninjas thrown into the character line-up. It's like trying to eat cheesecake without eating the cheese. It's possible, but it's time consuming and troublesome, and then you get the hoards of angry teenagers screaming "where's the cheese in my cheesecake!? Where's the goddamn cheese!?" And we don't want that, now do we?
Ibuki stands at 6 inches of drab-tan ninjaness (and for a ninja, that's a good thing). The detail overall is great, of course, especially the way the baggy pants are sculpted, even the fingers and toes aren't over-looked (although the toes are a slightly different flesh-tone that the rest of the body, they're more ashy). The hair-bangs and tails are flexible, there are also small flicks of hair sticking-out from...[

Henchmen4HireOur beloved bastich is immortalized with his very own Marvel Legends figure. And even though it came out quite a while ago it's still sought after by many fans, especially with the Civil War comics flying around.
This Iron Man suit stands 6.5 inches, which makes sense considering its an iron suit (gotta make extra room for those rocket-boosters in the boots and the giant ego in the helmet). This is the Modern Iron Man suit, and everyone wants it so be sure to get yours while you can. The figure looks pretty accurate to the comics, although I'm sure some details had to be dropped to accommodate articulation, a choice well-made. Despite the apparent bulkiness of the armor, the fig is still super-poseable! All I've been hearing is how crappy the articulation is, and you know what, you're...[

Henchmen4Hire[This is for Conan]
Because I know someone is going to make the snarky remark, I consider LCBH and Marvel Legends figures the same thing, for reasons that are obvious if you've ever owned a LCBH and ML figure at the same time.
Our barbarous barbarian stands over 6.25 inches and is solidly constructed. This is one of the few Marvel Legends-style figures where the muscles are believable, not some freaky abstract sculpt like Black Panther or Bishop. I thought the hips were going to be gross, but they actually look natural once you straighten-out the legs. Only problems I have with the sculpting is the weak-looking ankles (they're scrawny in comparison to the rest of the body) and the straps sculpted on the right thigh. I wanted a bare-minimum Conan, no extras on him, but we can't be picky...[

as far as I can tell the doo-hickey is just there to fill the hole that serves as the cape anchor point on other figures. guess Mattel uses a universal mold for the bodies.
