BizarroDC Super Heroes (Mattel) - Series 2

Henchmen4HireIn a world of backwards talking, dim-witted super-clones, Bizarro sticks out like a sore thumb, a big dumb sore thumb. The Bizarro released for the 90's Superman cartoon (the greatest cartoon of all time) was very accurate to that show, but DC needed to release a new 6-inch 'Zarro to match the one in the comics. They did a good job but they gave him a super-ticked-off face! Those big yellow teeth are clenched and bared to the gums so he looks like he's seething with rage! The Bizarro I remember never got that angry, he always had a quizzical look on his face or a big dumb smile. This figure doesn't even have pupils, the eyes are completely yellow. Also, some genius decided it would be a good idea to paint some "oil" on his face. Why would they paint oil on his face!? Is he ticked-off...[

VariablePenguinWhen I saw this figure in the store I thought, "That is the best Archangel figure I've ever seen."
I wasn't wrong. The figure has a flawless paint job, which is saying a lot because his costume is very intricate. The figure has the higher standard articulation (hinged fingers!). If only they'd do this to all of those female figures...
There are only a few problems. His fingers have some serious excess plastic that needs to be trimmed. His ears look like regular ears when they should be covered in his mask. And finally, the biggest problem: His stupid backpack wing launcher. This thing official changes his name from Angel to Bird. It has tail feather and is a bulk monstrosity. The "missiles" it launches aren't even going to hurt anyone! They're made of some sort of coiled papery...[

DoomsdayDC Super Heroes (Mattel) - Series 2

Tom-TomAbout 13 years ago, the badass Doomsday appeared and (long story short) killed Superman. Some people think you can't be a comic fan (even if it's Marvel) without knowing this. Then basically nothing. He has appeared since then, but nothing was as dramatic since, he hasn't re-killed Supes. Oh well.
Doomsday has had only 4 action figures so far: Hasbro made one about 11 years ago, DCD in 2003, this version (DCSH) and another by Mattel last September for JLU. Onto the review!
Sculpt- I don't care what you say, this is not a scaled down figure of DCD's. He has a few differences, but they are not the same! Okay, goosfraba. His main body is made out of hard plastic, while the face (he has a head underneath) and spikes/bones are rubber, for the little ones. His sculpt works pretty well with...[

Henchmen4HireYou've got to keep the kids happy, and by "kids" I mean the large hairy men who buy action figures, so DC said "YES! YE MEN SHALL HAVETH THINE WISHES!" And so they bequeathed upon us these multi-articulated DC Super Heroes figures!
Supes stands 6 1/4 inches (and a little taller if you count his hair) so he's actually in-scale with the Marvel Legends figures! The body's muscle is lean and moderated for the most part, not over-hulking like previous Superman figures. The chest-symbol is crisply painted but the paint-job on the yellow belt is a little crude. As always, paint-quality will vary so check before you buy. The blue parts are blue plastic to start with so you don't have to worry about paint chipping, the red parts look painted but they have the same tough-to-damage look about them....[

Mr. FreezeBatman - EXP Extreme Power (Mattel) - Bonus DVD

Henchmen4HireAlthough I'm not too impressed with how Fries was portrayed in the "The Batman" cartoon, I love how all the figures from that line look EXACTLY like they're supposed to. There are no creative liberties here, what you see on the show is what you get in plastic!
Freeze stands about 5.25 inches to the top of his head and 5.75 to the top of his jagged ice-helmet. The helm is made of flaxtic (flexible plastic, that's right, it's my new word) so the jaggies won't poke kids' eyes out. It looks great and is very clear so you can see his head inside. The head is pale white with two evil red eyes. I heard somewhere that there is a variant to this figure; instead of having this ninja-esque type face he has a human-looking face, but I haven't seen any pictures to confirm this. The contraption the...[

Henchmen4HireI don't know why Hasbro doesn't have all their figures painted entirely, I see awesome paint-jobs based on the small areas they decide to loosen the purse-strings on.
The Bald Hornet stands 6 inches tall, and most of it is head, hah. It's probably just an illusion from having a smooth head, but his head looks too big. YJ has the same basic body of Captain Marvel (or Moon Knight, same thing) with different hands, right clenched, left open (like it's reaching out to something). The head is black with the Superman-chin, eyes, and yellow ear-things painted. The black on the chest, the yellow belt with gold buckle, and the chest-wasp (it's a little blurry) are also painted. The big black neck-things are stiff but flexible (lol). This figure (and the Quicksilver) looks pretty generic, I wanted...[

DarwinSeaquest DSV (Playmates) - Basic Series

SuperNinjaMonkeyAhh yes the classic SeaQuest DSV toy line. It amazed me that this B grade TV series managed to earn themselves a toy line in the first place. This must have been the era of where toy companies were latching onto any license possible. Well aside from all that, this here is Darwin, the toy based on the Dolphin friend of Lucas from the show. While I can see Playmates idea was in the right place, it just didn't work out. Darwin just comes as is with some lame accessories. Hey Playmates, it's a freakin fish, think it would have been better suited with a deluxe playset like a fish tank or something for it to swim in. Now that would make a cool display with the other figures nearby. But no, they just wanted to cut corners and save money, thus the result was weak and effortless. Not a bad sculpt...[

Henchmen4HireI know, I'm almost broke and here I am buying more toys to review. Like you wouldn't buy a Thor figure at first sight! Pfft!
The Odinson towers at 7 inches tall. According to the package, he's supposed to be 6-foot 6-inches, which means he's supposed to be 6.5 inches, so technically he's half an inch too long, but when was the last time a guy complained about that, right? Moving on...Thor is muscle yearning to explode in a berserker's fury restrained only by scale-armor and silvered chains...and stretchy pants. Really though, who made his suit, the poor guy doesn't have a zipper or any laces to undo for when he must succumb the Call of the Nature. The folds in the pants are great though, they definitely add to the realism. The attention to detail overall is spectacular, it's just too bad...[

Mint Condition CustomsSculpt - *** 1/2 (out of 5)
This is the first thing I'd like to touch on. I really love the sculpt for this figure. The large, hulking brute that it makes Marv out to be really reflects the look and feel of his comic book counterpart. The size, the proportion, and the wrinkles in his face do well to depict Marv. Even the coat (which I'll touch on more later) is perfectly sculpted to show Frank Miller's art style. My only problem with the figure is the height. He stand roughly 7" tall, but to be honest I expected him to be even bigger than that. Fans of the comic book series will know that Marv is HUGE. So I expected the figure to be just a tad big taller than that. And there's also a hole in Marv's back and in his coat. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it's for the Marvel Legends...[

KenStreet Fighter 4 (Neca) - Round 1

Kyle RobinsonHAPPY DAY!! Sorta I finally found the new Player Select Line of street fighter figures at my local TRU. Bad news is that they only had Ken. The wave consist of 3 characters if you didn't already know. Ryu, Ken, and a new female character named Crimson Viper (C. Viper for short). He was not only the only character, but the only SF IV figure on the peg (only one peg I might add) The cashier added “Pretty figures, they have been flying off the shelf like hot cakes”.
So lets talk about Ken and all his awesomeness. Below you will see the package images of Ken, the Packaging is basically what you expect from NECA by now which is pretty great. The back gives you some specs on Ken, a list of the figures in the series, and a Devinci like diagram of how the articulation works.
After opening Ken,...[
