Custom WorkstationIt's time to buy new brushes, are there any you really like? Would be nice to get suggestions so I don't buy blindly and have to return junk brushes a bunch of times

Please wait...

Since they're synthetic brushes, they don't absorb/retain water like natural hair brushes do. Most water easily squeezes out from the bristles by dragging them on the edge of your water cup as usual. I didn't notice any difference in how easy they are to clean, just rinse them well and use a little soap if you have to to get rid of stubborn paint.
The bristles are a little stiff because they don't get soggy like natural brushes, it took me a few swipes to get used to them. Take care not to get gunk in the ferrule area (base of the bristles), I'm sure that would stiffen the bristles to the point where smooth strokes become difficult.
Filberts are what you'll most likely use for 90% of figure painting, they're good in almost any situation. The Brights (flat tips) are good for drybrushing. I used both and they gave me smooth results using Formula P3 paint. I used light colors that are notoriously hard to paint without leaving raised brushstrokes, but the brushes did fine with some finessing. I definitely recommend thinning your paints a little, but you should be doing that already anyway.
Also, these brushes are pretty haha. They have a premium vibe. If they ever go on sale again I'll be getting another size bigger and smaller of each just to have more options.

Some Filberts and Brights only because I haven't found the need for the other types of brushes.
Maybe I can do a tutorial on when to use the different kinds of brushes, though it's self-evident once you use them.
And heads up, apparently paint brushes are on sale everywhere right now.
