Mattel Supergirl Figures Custom Question

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello collectors;

Does anyone know if you can easily (ball joint?)
swap the heads between the Mattel "Bellyshirt costume" Supergirls, or with the Alex Ross version?

That is, the DC Superheroes S3 Select Sculpt Blue Costume, with either of the White Top costume figures, or the Alex Ross version?

I want the full blue belly costume/body, but don't like the pornstar headsculpt. Wondering if any of you have switched it for any of the other three.

ps; I'm not a brilliant customizer. That's why I'm wondering ball joint.

Thank you so much!

Henchmen4Hire; BRILLIANT! I was wondering that myself; head for Chaos looks a tad big and head for Ross looks a bit small. So plan is DC Universe Classics Kryptonite Chaos body with Alex Ross head (So I can lose the, at least for my tastes, the non-supergirl-ish "Pornstar headsculpt". That combo will look right with my LOSH set I think. Thanks for your thoughts! I can do this...

Yeah, I never liked those headsulpts for the DCSH DCUC lines, they all looked pie-faced.

This review has an image with both those supergirls in it

The heads actually look about the same size since the Alex Ross one seems to have slightly too small a head.

Swapping heads is one of the easiest things to do. If the hole isn't big enough, make it bigger. If the hole is too big, stuff it with something. It there's no hole, make it. Many ways to get the same results. (though sometimes tough if you don't have a rotary tool)

Yes, the Alex Ross is DC Direct so your info on the different head structures helps a ton. I want this Supergirl to match my $$$ LOSH set I just bought, so the Alex Ross is a no-no. I forgot the DC Directs were like the Marvel Selects... a bit bigger. Thanks for taking the time to respond and keeping me from ordering the wrong figure on eBay.

It might fit you'd just have to try and see. I'm guessing the Ross fig is DC direct? It may be to big. The DC direct typically have a ball in the head and neck, the mattel have a flat headed peg in the head and a ball in the shoulders. So it may not fit. You can heat them up with a blow dryer or boiling water. If you have to tug real hard it's probably not soft enough. Should be fairly easy, if it doesn't fit and you still want it done there's a tutorial section http://www.figurerealm.com/customtutorial

Thank you! Yes, two of the belly shirts are. Not sure about the Alex Ross version though. Can't' tell if it's even a ball joint head by pics.

I think they are the same figure you should be able to heat them up a little and swap them with no issues, you may be able to swap the hair if that's what you don't like.
