Marvel Legends Iron Man 3 Wave 1 & 2/Ultron News + Pics

Action Figure ChatterHaven't seen anything mentioned about this here. Given the fact that the Iron Man 2 line actually had some good figures, (War Machine, Mark IV & VI, Titanium Man & Crimson Dynamo), I figured it was worth bringing up. I know some of this was discussed at Comic Con. They are now available for pre-order along with the rest of the initial Iron Man 3 offerings.

The comic style Marvel Legends figures are what I'm interested in the most. I think the BAF Iron Monger sounds sweet and will more than likely be spread over the two waves. I wonder if the BAF or any of the figures will have a variant? I don't think they will since I don't remember any of the recent movie lines using this strategy. Which seems reasonable for a movie line. Hopefully all the figures fit in scale with other ML. The recent Extremis & Neo Classic Iron Man are on the short/small side. I wonder how the Classic Horned Iron Man will stack up to the Toy Biz series 1 variant? This also makes me wonder if the figures will be new sculpts, or a ton of re-use/re-painting? Is the Iron Patriot a movie version or comic version? Will wave two be full of movie figures, forcing the purchase for BAF parts? Could be, hope not.
I do have decent hope for these figures. I really liked some of the figures from Iron Man 2. My favorite was the War Machine. I don't even care for him as a character. Just a nice looking figure that once you held it in your hands, justified the price tag. I'm looking forward to the Heroic Age Iron Man. He will most likely replace Mark VI Iron Man in my modern themed display. The Heroic Age armor lends some great potential to paint work and sculpt. I already have the Toy Biz series 1 gold variant. If the new one is better, I'll buy it. I don't know what to expect from Iron Patriot. I would be fine with a re-paint/re-use of War Machine if it's the movie version. If it is the comic version, I'd prefer a different design.
Thoughts?

Please wait...

This figure is too small scale wise. Paint is OK. Articulation is crappy. Series 1 figure is better.
Surprised by this figure. A little on the small side. Paint is sometimes sloppy. Articulation is good. I'm digging this figure. I wonder if it has bigger hands to give it the effect of being bigger? I did not like the Extremis version.
Nice figure. Good size. Paint is pretty good, but probably better on the MU version. Articulation is very good but limited in wrists. Joints were very tight, probably easy to break.
This BAF should be awesome. Decent size, cool paint effect. I'd like to see this used on other characters and with other colors. Very nice looking in person.
More pics and thoughts soon. Cool stuff!
my one problem with wave 2 is no mandarin was really looking forward to picking one up hope fully we could see one somehow
I was right about the size of Iron Patriot's hands. They are noticeably bigger. For those that have watched the reviews, how do you feel about the swirl paint effect? Is it just a cop out for shading?
I'm less excited about these only because Iron Patriot is too small and so is the two pack Iron Man. Still really want Bleeding Edge Iron Man. Looks like he could have had a better paint job, as compared to the MU version. If there weren't so many other (better) versions of classic Iron Man available, I'd be more excited about the two pack re-release. I dig the Iron Patriot, I just hate the size of the figure. If any of them should be slim, it would be the sleeker more advanced Bleeding Edge armor I'm guessing.
That Ultron had better be a new sculpt. Not that ugly, miss proportioned cyborg bat from the Legendary Riders series. Also, do we really need another Ultron after the superb Marvel Select version? That should have been the Mandarin. The series is two waves and four of six figures are Iron Man. Either way, cool BAF and they seem to be of decent quality.

Also, is it just me, or does Iron Patriot's hands look too big for his body?

After seeing that pic, I will be ordering a set of these from BBTS. 49.99 + 9.19 to ship isn't bad. These will be 17.99 to 19.99 in my area at TRU. Guess I will be trading my Mark VI sometime soon. Looks like I will be keeping the Iron Patriot and Heroic Age and dumping the Classic figure. If these don't come with alternate hands, maybe the ones from the IM2 line will fit.
Iron Monger BAF looks like it is going to be sweet! Series 2 I would guess will be most or all movie figures? Makes sense as it will hit around the same time as the movie. It Would be nice to get a plain old Tony Stark comic figure. I would settle for a movie one with alternate comic head. Probably sell more that way.
I cannot wait to see what wave two holds. I am assuming that Black suit from Marvel Now will be in wave two ...Unless its Movie Iron Man, Movie Iron Patriot, and Movie... well rather not say
