eulogy to Toy Biz

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

I know toybiz wasn't perfect but they tried, I miss opening a figure and being able to tell that a lot of care and individual work went into it. These days it seems like you open a figure and all that's new is the head and boring paint job. Toy biz did there very best to make every figure the best it could be, sure they didn't always succeed, look at series 11 scarlet witch if you want an example of that! But even that figure although horrible and hideous had a completely new sculpt, surprisingly cool accessories, and more joints then you can hope to ever get from a Hasbro figure. Toy Biz had tried to make something awesome for us! Sure in this case they fell short but in many other cases they hit there mark and then some!!! And no amount of new figures can make us forget those masterpieces, no matter what will happen Toy-Biz will always live in our hearts. Rest in piece.

LOL. yeah, you are the only person I've heard say, in public at least, that they prefer Hasbro over Toybiz. I like some of their sculpts, but the articulation on their early stuff is terrible. They seem to be stepping up their game lately. If they put the amount of love into them that they have put into Star Wars Black, that would be awesome.

That was great man. That's a lot of truth in a great eulogy. I was thinking about figures and their quality and thinking of Hasbro as well and man do I miss the days of Toybiz. I remember being so impressed at the Spiderman 2 figures they released. I wasn't a collector, but always liked figures as a kid, but I remember being 10 and having a Spiderman. I remember noticing the remarkable sculpt work and, as weird as it may sound, I remember that I loved how it felt and looked. It was the first time I really took note at how good a figure looked. The paint was flawless and I remember wondering how they got that Spiderman to have raised webbing. I only wish I was more interested in figures then because of all of the great figures I missed out on buying that are now worth much more all because I wasn't yet interested in them. Now that I own more Toybiz figures, I only wish that more and more. Man, what a company. I wish Hasbro put that kind of care into their figures.

So true, I don't have loads of legends but all the best ones I've held have been toybiz. It does feel better t get a new sculpt for each figure, makes you fell like it's more worth the insane amount you'll end up paying for it. I'd also like to add SOTA if I may there work on the street fighter line is un-paralleled in my opinion, even by toy-biz.
