It happened again!

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

I will let the picture speak for itself!

All I can say is "REALLY?"

And yes, I took the figure and gave it to an employee to be taken off the floor.

Back when legendary comic book heroes were in the stores I found a bunch of them that someone had returned and put unaltered spiderman two figures inside. What I don't understand is why go to all the work of making a halfway decent custom just to get one figure for free!

There's a few stores near me where people swap in toys that looks nothing like the original figure, like putting a 3.75" Star Wars fig in a ML package.
The icing on the cake though is when I notify customer service and they look at me like I'm an idiot.

I found a video on You Tube a while back I meant to post about this very thing happening in Houston,TX. Link:

I'd buy an new but used ML if it was a decent older figure. It'd be kind of like jumping into a time machine.

Once when I worked at Wal-Mart, someone returned an Original Game Boy that had a brick inside. Heh.

Holy cow! I can hardly believe this is happening. It makes me pretty angry that scalpers n swappers make it so hard on honest collectors but I have to admit, someone making a custom just to return it to the shelf is kinda funny. It's like a knockoff Picasso duping the curators at a museum or something. I wonder how bad the problem is and what they're doing to stop it.

I used to think these were mildly amusing until I found one in my neck of the woods. Somebody had replaced a Destroyer from the Thor line with it's McDonalds counterpart, it was the first Destroyer I'd seen so I though hasbro had gotten really cheap.

That looks like the spiderman series Trantula figure Repainted and the Ronin/ Hand ninja body as the BAF part. LOL! Classic.

Dude, you know that error figures sell for major bucks...right? Remember the DCUC "naked" cheetah? Even if a figure is place in the wrong packaging are very collectable. I know a comic store owner in Chicago that would of given you $50 on the spot!

Why can't I find figures like these?

Tahat is really odd, what is that piece he has with him?
are these errors or returns???

cause the boxes are just ever so slightly different as the error has Ages 4+ on it while the original doesn't... hmmmmmm

The age 4 is on both I assure you.

On both packages you can see on the back one had scotch tape and the other had really wide packing tape. Both of these were opened and resealed.

I saw a TRU xfactor back that had a gladiator instead of an angel, a different ice man, and the MU apoc. such a dick move. why would you want the new shitt cap anyway? I'd raher have the mr fantastic for his sweet ass parts.
to their credit tho the paint job looks solid! I worked at a kb before, they took anything back no matter how beat up the package.

yup. Or they will just take the build a figure piece and put nothing with it because they know the cashier are too dumb/uninterested to pay attention. Heck I play a card game called yugioh and they have video games, the games come with cards sometimes the cards are worth 10,20,30 dollars so they buy the game take the cards and exchange the "defective" game for another copy with more cards and they keep repeating it

So lemme get this straight, people buy the figure, take it out, and then put a lesser quality custom in there and get their money back so they basically get the figure for free?

Yeah it does. The camera flash is just blocking it. These are 99% likely returns. Happens all the time with wrestling toys. People buy the new mattel ones aandtake the belt sometimes replacing it with old crappy jakks belts. Sometimes replacing the entire figure with a jakks figure

Well the one way of selling a custom LoL !
I saw a Marvel Universe frost giant in a clearance section of a walmart a while back and I picked it up and took a look and it was the old toy biz 1990's 10 inch sabretooth and you could tell it was a returned package off the bat . But it was just funny.
