Nobody likes me and I'm not very good at what I do

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

is exactly how I feel about now. Not only did I NOT sell my figures, the person that DID bid on it, retracted there bid. Not only that but FREE SHIPPING and a gallery pictures and a border and a subtitle were still not a big enough grabber. Did my Spartan suck that bad? I thought it was pretty good. It's not as random as some of the stuff you see going on eBay sometimes so WTF?

Am I doing something wrong? Was there some club I needed to join other than the one's I'm in? Pretty much this proves to me how unlucky I am. I saw a poorly painted Blackbolt going for a rediculous amount and my decent Spartan with Marlowe gets a negative bid. makes me sad...

Just wanted to rant a little. *Tear*...

On a positive note, I sent my beginner's tutorial to Cap and he'll probably put it up later today. It's not super indepth, but we have some very indepth stuff on most subjects here anyway.

Thanks! Jin Saotome pulled in over 200 with his!!! Post it on here before you sell (unless it's alredy on ebay) and I'll kick you some feedback. you reg sunfire is awsome! the only sugestion I would give on that one is to take new pics of it with a solid Backdrop to make it look more professional. My auctions almost doubled once I started doing that. I wanna see your aoa. did you see my new one today?

Yeh,..lol.. I know. That was just to prove that my work is just as good if not better than some of his. But I asked you. DO YOU HAVE A PIC OF HIS MIMIC? if not do you have a link to one? and im probly not selling that punisher. I am gatting enough cash from new commisions. When all is said and done I will be getting 1,500 bucks from chad lee alone. he is sending me basically his whole collection one by one to do fixed on factory paint and steel claws and small mods like my pyro. and those small projects are on the side of the now 15 figure he has me working on. He is sending me all the fodder and base figure I want as well. as well as pieces for my personal collect. I couldnt be happier SO SCREW EBAY AND SCREW TOYFARE. untill they put my figs in there of course...

K&L make cool customs but I really Don't like those faces

The other guys make nice ones too but damn, there's no reasonable reason for the end prices.

I'm not sure how to talk about his without sounding extremely abrasive

there are 4 people that will OWN ebay in the auction front. NO MATTER WAHT THEY POST IT SELLS FOR LIKE 100-300 BUCKS EVEN IF I MAKE A BETTER ONE. even though Im getting up there now and again. these guys rake in doh no matter what. K&L I can under stand. the wife paints beutifull stuff and they make moslt popular girls. BUT Jin (who is too good to grace the pages of figure realm anymore) Is big for the same reason as DLC. TOYFARE MAG!!!!!

DLC "Darth Lion Customs"

Jin Saotome "Jin Saotome's Dangerous Toys"

K&L Customs "The Husband & Wife Team K&L Customs!!"

And Cal's Customs

On your line of doing the same character as someone else and getting no cash:

My Masterpice Motormaster was up for 5 days and I didn't get a bid till 12hrs left on the last day. He sold for $25.00, 1 bid. I sculpted his correct head from scratch, completely matched all his colors and gave him a remolded and sculpted set of feet that could tow a trailer in semi mode.

Check out custom formers the other day and some else did the same thing I did, however left on Primes head, didn't change the feet and left them blue, BLUE, a color Motormaster never had. This was just a Prime with a black upper body. He pulled $70 for painting an uppe half of a Prime black.

And on the same subject:

Jin painted a Megatron Classic grey and with his old school colors. He has done this multiple times now and I haven't seen one go less than $100.00. I seen another person did one as well. The job was just as good ever better since he got Megs eye color right (Red not Green) and he didn't have a bid.

I don't get it.

If done right, your Vash would look better in a fabric coat. But, it would be VERY HARD to do right. I'll be getting to work on my sewing tutorial when I start on a new Grifter. (I just know I'm going to like it too much and keep both of them )

DOC? PAINT TUTOR?..lol.. just kidding doc. im making a painting tutorial too. Like doing fine detils like I do with my, as doc would say, "finger snapping magic" Im gunna do an Air Brush tutorial too although I don't use my airbrush on action figures very much.

I like that aspect too. It really depends I guess. I've never really seen a cool fig in a fabric coat but grifter. Gambits is too big and makes him look retarded and so does puns. I like how grifters sleeves are rolled up. maybe if gambit and pun had tighter sleeves I think it would look cooler. I just like rubber ones like the one I used for my pun mod. Its super detailed and has buttons and buckles that I think look more real. But in both cases I would have to day "if its done right ill like it" X-Men classics gambit looks dumb in rubber..lol.

You can't tell me that my Vash the stampede would look better in fabric, I mean COME ON..lol

damn you guys were up late on this one...

hey VP the beginner's tutorial is great - very well done. now do one on painting techniques - Hercules commands it.

ebay is all about timing and having the right words in your auction title so people can find it but it's also about demand - mainstream Marvel and DC characters are always hot. Wildcats might not be so high on the demand list with the public right now but when the revamped series with Jim Lee doing the art comes out (is it out already?) then it will be time to strike.

sorry if I'm restating the obvious and already covered.

I swear, if that magnetic jointed thing catches on...

I like to make fabric stuff because it's more poseable. If you want a certain look, just wet it and move it and when it dries it likes to stay in that place. That and it's more realistic in my book.

I don't really want it but I was thinking yesterday while finnishing my jubilee, That I once saw Doc say that fabric coats look better on Female figuresos I was Thinking "I wounder if I can Download a template for jubilee". but I ended just constructing one out of rubber like I love to do. But maybe in the future It would be killer to now that I can get one here. SO DO IT!!!

One I clear out some of my commission work Im gunna dive into my grifter. I want it to be way different than yours (even though yours kick much ass) Im gunna start with a rubber coat and maybe try some other things differently. But I deffinatly will be doing Mag Joint. Oh yeh, my paints do nt come off my coats or capes. REALLY STRONG.

Make da' damn template, foo D:<

I had to cut up a leather ladies shoe to make my Punisher's coat xD

Wednesday, December 6, 2006
But then they wouldn't have the excitement I did of having to make a coat twice because the first one I made using Gambit's coat was WAY too small (sleeves didn't fit on my pinky).

I might do that, but really you just want it, right?

I was woundering How you got 2 guns. I got mine loose back in the day so I thought he was missing one after I saw yours. Mine also ONLy came with the one gone no cell phone thing. And the Face off pack. I have only seen the variant up close so I didn't know about the stitches. You should drw a pattern for making trenchcoats and scan it for tutorial and people can print it off and use it.
avatar
VariablePenguin -
Wednesday, December 6, 2006
You'll have to do some work on the Jigsaw, though. His costume has all these stitches on it you'll need to sand down.

Oh, and I have another Grifter already. That's how I got 2 matching guns for the one I have. The Grifter figure comes with 2 different guns, a tiny rifle, and a cell phone.

yeh. good idea. and when it comes to custom sales I would Imagine that not a lot of people are fans of the OG punisher leg articulation either. Just use some of your realm credits and get a cheap grifter from cap. I want that face off pack too. (non-variant) so I can Pop off jigsaws head and have two Puns.

I'm thinking of using the FaceOff Punisher for my new Grifter. It's got the added abdomen joint that my current one is lacking. I'm going to make a new coat (the one I have is a little unpolished).
