UPDATE 20/08/13 Man of Steel and Cap

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey guys,
I havn't been doing many customs lately, so I thought I'd make a HUGE custom to get back into the swing.
First up is onslaught. I wanted to use the icons venom base and searched around for a bit but couldnt find anything . Anyway, I decided to use the baf onslaught from toybiz and turn it into that huge magneto looking version of him. I managed to trade for one (thanks shapp) and set to work. I modded the legs, sculpted his head entirely and buffed up his legs with sculpt to add muscle:

The head and neck are from maestro hulk entierly sculpted over.

I think I'm going to sand the sides of his head to give a smoother effect. I'm also going to get to work on his collar and sand that down too.

Here's my custom Revelations ezio I've been working on. He's barely a WIP as I've only got to paint his legs now.

Hey guys, haven't posted WIPS for a while but I got a few projects on the go so I thought I'd show what I got going

First up is a Smallville Finale style Clark Kent, just waiting on the head now, but he's almost done. He uses Drax feet with Peter Petrelli lower legs and Jonah Hex from the knee up. His upper body is an X2 Wolverine with a modded Dracula overcoat and Spike arms, Phew!

second is a Man of Steel Zod. For this one I'm trying my hand at painting the heat vision look from the film. I'm probably going to repaint it again but if anyone has any tips for painting that effect, please let me know

Next up is the Man of Steel himself (sorry if the pic is a little blurry). This guy is in early stages, with the base being Bucky and the lower legs from fantomex (that's probably going to change). I'm going to make him a cloth cape as well like zod, any tips for that would also be awesome

Ah, another Superman related custom, this time a Smallville season 9 style Blur. This body ended up being used for Zod but I thought I'd show the Wip anyway. I was so pleased at how the S came out, sculpting armour over it was painful

Check out the original Zod on my realm page Here are the WIPS:

Thanks for looking guys, more on the way!

Hi guys. Got some time to post some wips so here they are. Obsessed with the walking dead and love the character of Rick Grimes so I had a little wonder around my parts bin to see if I could make a 6" Rick. Mcfarlane did release some walking dead figures but they are in that annoying 4.5-5" scale anyways, below are the details...

reference:

I used the legs from a btvs deluxe spike. They are thin and have the stripe down the side (great for sheriff pants)

I used the head from a neca alex mercer (good likeness to andrew linkoln) and sculpted the hair at the back of his head as there was a hole where Alex's hood was glued in. I wish I could show a comparison, he had a gaping hole in the ack of his head lol

SOrry blurry pic, but here is where the neck/head needs finishing. The head had a neck sculpted into the head (it had a ball joint at the bottom of the neck) so I had to cut the neck off and then cut around the jaw. I then drilled a hole into his head so that the mm jim gordon neck would fit.

some action shots....so far I have painted his head, face and legs. Going to finish the upper body later.

Also got this shotgun from the faceoff punisher vs jigsaw set which fits pretty well

Now rick can kill zombies in any pose he wants!

soooo, I've been pretty busy recently but I have just been swamped by other things and have had no time to post. buuuuut, I managed to almost finish venom (sorry, no pics yet) and done a lot of work on terminator, see below. But first, I have been working on a custom charlie pace from LOST. I also included a comparison pic:

head is ronin resculpted

I will post updated pics as I have started paintwork(ish)

TERMINATOR!
Now for this guy, I managed to get some wrarrl legs, so I swapped them for the dcuc legs:

I'm also going to add more natural damage where the robotic leg meets the wrarrl leg rather than haing a clean cut.

More detail added:

Going to add battle damage/mud/ scratches to this shotgun.

Want to get a big, bulky kind of grenade launcher or rpg. Kinda like this one:

anyone know any toys that come with one like this?

interesting info, thanks I might try some green stuff for some projects also.

That's good to know, I use Milliput and aves fixit and I'll probably stick with that. Green stuff just seems so much easier to get but I've always thought the price for quantity was a little bit rich. I'll probably pick some up at some point. Cheers bud

I was thinking the exact same thing myself the other day . I haven't been posting anyhting for a couple reasons, one my current project fits into a competition currently in the voting for the next contest so I'm waiting to see if it's chosen and two, I'm currently moving house so time is short. Don't worry dude, I'm sure things will pick up again.

As for this venom, he's looking great, some great sculpt going on. Out of interest, on average how long does a pack of green stuff last you? and does it dry like rock? I've recieved a few traded items with green stuff on them and it always seems to come off real easy. So I guess I'm asking what's it like??
Well, it dries a little less hard than epoxie, more like plastic, great for sculpting hair! It is a bit on the expensive side and doesn't come in huge quantities but it lasts me about 1-3 months on one pack and that's using it quite frequently. I find it easier to handle (that's just me) when sculpting intricate pieces as it is, in my opinion, a little easier to handle than epoxie. I hope that helps, and I hope I have persuaded you to try it! I use both epoxie and green stuff, so my thoughts are that perhaps epoxie is easier when sculpting bigger things like armor or when I was sculpting my onslaught, but green stuff is better for the little details or when sculpting things like 6" heads, hair and so on.

Wow. The custom workstation has been awfully quiet lately. Secret santa? I've been busy with that lately too and it's awesome. I obviously can't post wips but my figure is really coming together perfectly and I can't wait for it to be finished. most likely going to do another figure off of their list.....

Been working on everything lately, alex mercer is currently at a halt. No reason in particular, just some other stuff I've been working on. Currently working on my 7" Peter and Sylar figures. Peter is almost finished, will start on Sylar when I get the right parts. I also have a few marvel legends customs that I will unveile soon...

If you can't tell, the alternate head on the right has resculpted hair and paint, but his face is unaltered, however the head on the left, the regular head has a resculpted head and resculpted hair, it serves as good comparison.

The base was a FO punisher, with his leg holster and jigsaws holster on his chest straps. chest straps made from thin leather (perfect for straps and easy to paint on). His head is a casted deadpool by camco kid (he has a nice jaw, as that is the only part of the head showing) completely sculpted over. The rest is all sculpted.

What was the recipe?
avatar

Well actually, I made this one because I was missing my udon tasky and he makes a tremendous display peice. I used this base this time as its just better articulated and easier to weaponise.

awww lol I want that one!!!! I like the way the legs look on that one, I may have to swap them for the ones on the tasky you made me =p

done some work on Tasky, spent all weekend and some of today doing him, so all in all about two and a half days solid work. scrapped the old head, pics below:

midway through painting...

Sculpted hood out of greenstuff, fully removeable. (also fixed the paint on the face from the pic above)

I may resculpt the left eye, it seems a bit off.

More paint detail:

I took the 'down' hood from a variant face-off daredevil. (still need to paint the yellow pupils)

BTW, the dark area on his left arm is not a paint error, but a very heavy wash.

before I post more WIPS, I just need some ideas and inspiration with my heroes 6 inchers. Peter is done (may change the hair a bit). Here are some clips. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I may make a mini-diorama of maybe issac the painters loft, maybe kirby plaza or new york in pete's vision.
INSPIRATION:::
A quick overview of season 1:

ANd the 'how to stop an exploding man' storyline:

the leg

Closer to completion....:

greenstuff FTW!

Final one for the day, UDON Taskmaster. He's in early stages. Still have to make the reomoveable hood and chest strap and so on..

Knife sheath...lots of sanding to do on this one.

Ok, first up Peter Petrelli:

This is how he started off. Surprisingly, the leon head fit the remy neck perfectly.

Closer to completion: I found some btvs deluxe spike legs and used them instead, just needs some final paint. Scroll down for alternate hands!

Sorry, bad pic

going to split this into two posts, computer is screwing up. have to save this before it completely fails!

Ok, so to start off I've basically finished punisher, deadpool, terminator and onslaught. Pete is almost there, just need to do a little touch up on the paint. I did take many pics but I've lost my phone. It's somewhere around but I can't currently find it. I also started and finished a half man half machine terminator which I'm sure you guys are going to love. It came out much better than anticipated. While I look for my phone, I thought I'd get some inspiration and Ideas for how to go about my heroes 6 inch figures.

Now Sylar, He's the one figure I just have no idea how to go about. He will be in 6 inch, just like pete and the others but I don't know a good base or head to start with. Any ideas?

Now Nathan, I pretty much have the body down, but need ideas for the head. Anyone have any clue what ml scale head resembles Nathan? Less work to do here than Sylar but I still need a good resembling head.

Sorry, bad picture. Now with Claire, I think I'll use a sota sakura body. Not too hard, pretty much a repaint and a few fodder/sculpted pieces. But then there's the head. Any ideas? I'm steering away from using a generic ml head. does anyone know a good head for this?

Peter is done. Just wanted to show you what look I went for.

Issac. Same story here. Have the body nailed (sorta, need to rethink upper body) but HEAD??? I was thinking aragorn, but then again, he has too much of a distinctive look and Issac certainly isn's aragorn. Ideas????!!

When I find my phone, I will put up the pics , so stay tuned!

love the punisher, looks great. also listen to count, he is now a guru at this and checking out the tutorials is a great source when you are having an issue. as for your peter, I would go with either prof. x or dracular legs, since they are the same. keep up the excellent work.
