Luckily (for me), most of the items the scalpers are after I have no interest in. I mean, why would anyone buy that ugly Series 1 Toad for 100 dollars? Unless you've got action-figure-induced OCD or like to flaunt your money, there's no sensible reason to buy them!
I'm anti-Ebay, I think it just perpetuates the problem behind why you can't find one in the first place. If they weren't horded by scalpers, collectors could get them for a reasonable price. Buying them from a scalper just validates their motive, it feeds the beast. The strategy I practice is to trade with fellow collectors only.
