Now that I see that I can post some pics, here's my latest WIP - this is going to be a Marvel Legends scale Micronauts' Acroyear. The body construction is an ML Mr. Sinister and the gloves and legs from a DCUC Lex Luthor in some green armor (?). The head was originally Mr. Sinister, since it fit the neck post... and using some Aves' Fixit sculpt and several pieces of thin sheet styrene, I created the Acroyear headsculpt (which I actually found broken in my studio yesterday, not sure how it broke... but now I'm going to cast it so it will be sturdier). Still a lot of work to do...
I freaking love the gears figure, my pictures get cut off here so I can only see his left side. Could you build him a lancer? shouldn't be too hard to do a retro lancer, maybe a sawed off shotgun, or even a torque bow? Also, were you going for one of the Carmines with him? If so, I have see really funny cosplay with people holding cardboard signs that say "Please help, brother's died in war" and I think that would be hilarious being held by the figure or something.
My Gears of War guy and the SDCC Shockwave figures are done now, in case anyone wants to check them out:
Gears of War Cog Soldier
SDCC HISSTank driver Shockwave
And I've got some new stuff on the bench...
So, here's a few projects on my bench right now...
First up, the Marvel Universe Gargoyle. I put this head with him, but I'm undecided about it. One day it looks good, next day it looks too small. What do you think?
I actually did more painting on him, adding some glaze coats to the skin to give it a multi-shaded look to it.
Next up, I started this Pythona figure. I want to do something a little more non-traditional, and this was a decent torso that I found in my fodder boxes. Interesting thing I tried was to use magnets to keep the torso together instead of the normal torso pin...
And lastly, I have this early paint progress on a Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel figure - her newest costume and title.
More progress, and the start of the hair sculpt. Who designed this new look for her? This hair is cRaZy looking...
That's it for now... thanks for looking!! LMK what you think!
It is hand sculpted, but I can not take credit for the original sculpt. However, I will have copies of this as well as several other GoW torsos in 1:18 scale / 3.75" in my store shortly. The head is already available for sale in my eCrater shop.
Thanks! For the head, I have the original Hulk from the Avengers box set which I'll be modifying to get that demonic look. As for the body - I used some thin strips of LEGO canvas and glued them in place and painted them. I have a little more progress done on his body, I added some 'studs' to the cloth strips to get the look I was after for the belts and wrist gauntlets. Just need to finish the head now and he'll be complete.
For me, the key to clean paint apps is to thin your paint every time. Sure, instead of doing one coat, I have to multiple coats, but I feel like I get much better, smoother finishes this way.
Here's a few new updates on my Gears of War figure:
I painted some details, added some leg armor, but he still feels like he's missing something. Suggestions? Ideas?
OK, I finally got some REAL progress done on Acroyear - still need to finish off the scratch-built sword, and the belt that I added... but he's getting there.
Thanks everyone! Here's a pic of my STILL WIP Acroyear...
Still some work to do... have to sand down his chest more where I resculpted... need to sand his head down some more... hopefully finished soon... hopefully...
