Crea-torX WIP page-Addition Marvel's Venom

Posted in Custom Workstation

This is a figure long time coming. Since Webstor's new figure costs more than I am whiling to pay, this is the next best idea. I know this "idea" have be down by the Great Madtinker76 and among others super customizers, but I always wanted to give my twist to the character. To be honest, I really thought I had a brainstorm of the idea of joining Webstor and a spider figure together. Imagine if you will, my EXTREME disappointment to find out someone beat me to it! ARRGH! Other than watching the Master of the Universe cartoon when they FIRST aired on TV, I never bought ANY MOTU figures...NONE! I never had any in my collection of figures...EVER! So this is new territory for me.

First thing, I knew I couldn't use ANY Webstor bodies. It's been done! I have to come up with another idea that could be just as good, but creative too! I decided on using Buzzoff upper torso and arms. Buzzoff hands were bug - like so, it was the perfect choice. Also having ports in the back for legs* or whatever you want to call the things that are coming out of Webstor's body didn't hurt either! My only disappointment with this torso, leaves no room for another set of arms. To be honest, with no articulation at the elbows leaves little on no room for them. The red X will be on his chest as well.

*I had legs from Spider Vs the World figure and I thought thingies from his upper back. The rest is Buzzoff. Also going to add more spikes to his arms.

Thanks to Supersizeme, I will be using MOTU Man at arms lion cloth to keep it G rate!

Here is where I took a different turn and going with the head from Spider-Man Classics Man-Spider. I didn't like the eyes and the mouth, so I drilled out the eye and used push pin for them. The mouth was carved out and I used a Red Lantern Lite-lik mouth that has a more menacing look with sharp teeth. I thought about using a Predator's head, but just too big for this figure. The Man-Spider's head was pushing on the size a bit, but not as bad. Since when do Spiders have antenna? Having to remove those, I will be sculpting to cover them up and fill in around the mouth.

(H E L P) Any help on joining the two figures together will be DEEPLY appreciated, cause frankly I don't have a clue! I like for his waist to move side to side some. Gluing it in place sounds like I rushed it and double ended screws doesn't sound like a good idea either. Help me out gang!

I have thought of a 100 ways in painting him, but keeping with tradition of Webstor, he will be blue tones!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like MONSTERS...period! If you look at my customs, you will most differently see a theme going on here. I loved the remake of the THING in the early 80's! And some how this came to be!

I have asked my fellow customites could you use the same idea on more than one custom and everyone said...YES! Cause the figures running up the neck is used on Red Lantern custom too. The Funnel claw end of the scorpion tail gave it a twist, I think? Having Deadman's arms and hands looks like they are crawling and it moves across the floor. You can almost hear the shrieking screams from the three heads of Yellow Lantern Low. But this was a dream I had and I had to build it when I woke up. There is so much more that could be done with this horrid...THING, but not sure where to go next. Remove one of bug's back legs and add a human leg?

If you been touched(not by me) by this figure and have some interesting ideas to take to next level....let me heat from you.

thanks for looking!

I hear ya! Although if I use a ball joint I can make the claws move at the wrist and I think I like that idea better then just gluing them place. Mom always told me, don't do a job if you are only going to do it half way. I told her that's the reason I didn't clean my room. You said don't do it half way, so I didn't do it at all. Well that didn't go over very well There's some tail work as well that needs to be done, so I am digging this one. I just need to finish all my other customs before getting new ideas. But ideas come fast than I can build! Arthritis ain't helping either! I am 50 years old gang...if you are wondering.

Hey Crea-torX!
I gotta say that I love supersizeme's suggestion of using a ball-joint for the Webstor. However, if you don't feel comfortable with that, how about some nice, strong magnets? It'll allow for nice swivel articulation.

Dude, I'm loving your Venom figure. I say finish prepping him up and paint that sucker! Just go with the flow, brother. As long as you're enjoying the ride, something good will come out of it. Don't rush through it, of course...but he looks like he's almost done. Clean up/sculpt around that piece underneath his torso (where Brood's neck used to be) and he's pretty much ready to go.

Good luck, dude. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thank you EDarthT! I might leave the arms alone, but the claws...I haven't made up my mind on them yet. I know that there are some customisers here, would say articulation is a must. I am waiting to see the ones who comment will agree. A walking nightmare eh...Maybe Venom has passed his popularity, but at least I can say I made mine version of him.

I think he looks like a walking nightmare as he is, so what if he hasn't got the articulation at the claws and biceps, it's not a big deal unless you think it is. Even if this was a static figure the concept and execution speak for themselves without the need to be able to bend and twist.

I thought of adding ANNIHILUS shoulder pads too or leg coming out from his back like on Webstor???????? Does the tail need another link? It looks short to me. Maybe it won't when he's all painted

Work in progress. I glued the claws in place so you all can get an idea what he is going to look like. The claws I am having issues with. Do I keep them like this or remove the part that is glued to the wrist and some how add a joint so the claw can more outward as well. As is, they wouldn't. Next: the arms...do I change them out cause that have no articulation at the biceps. Cracking these hard plastic bodies and much harder! I know, cause I messed up 2 of them already. The shoulders are clued extremely well and going the easy route is a whole lot simpler. But we don't make customs cause they are easy...do we?

This custom was begging to be made. I am just surprised that no one else didn't beat me to it!

I was going to hold this one back until I was done, but I was torn what to do about the claws and arms...so, here tis guys. Help me make this figure better!

thanks.

Thanks man! Sometimes I over think a custom and I need to be reminded to stay focus to what I'm trying to create!

But then again, Some customs are to be a duplication of that Character cause the company never made one or they just made a poor crappy version of it! Ms. Marvel...the classic black outfit with the lightning bolt crossed her chest. There should of been a decent figure, but all female from that Marvel line, Phoenix, Scarlet Witch, Rogue, among others...sucked pig toes! YES, PIG TOES! I think that was Toybiz darn awful figures. Customizers that can pull that off are in a league all their own! I would list them, but I wouldn't to leave any one them out! But I am sure you know who I am talking about...they make me sick! WHY on earth would I say such a thing? WHY???? Cause they make my customs looks so bad! Some of you guys blow me away with your customs! Like I said...a league all their own!!!

No way dude!!, it definitely will be Webstor, just your take on him, what's the point of customizing something to look exactly like the source material? you may as well just drop the fortune it would take to buy an actual retail Webstor. As for Sauron, I'm no comics expert but the tail looks fine to me

Thanks Supersizeme! But I fear that being unique might force MOTU figure fans say it's not truly a Webstor custom. Some of those guys are EXTREMELY picky when it comes to MOTU customs. But then again, who cares about picky people!

Sauron was and always be a favorite X-men villain of mine. This is rather a simple parts custom...Lizard base, Lizard fodder parts and head and wing from a Jurassic Parks figure,

Since Suaron's tail is skinner than the Lizard's, should I go with Nightcrawler's tail instead? If so, I will have to totally reconstruct his butt to do right. The V on his tail is just a cut out of the packaging.

Thoughts and discussion?

Hey Crea-torx those a some wicked pics. I think your Webstor is gonna be awesome. Well it's cool you are not using the Webstor MOTUC body, your's will definitely be unique. I really like what parts you chose, especially the head. As for joining the two maybe a big ball joint. I have tons of bigger ball joints from Bionicles figures so I can definitely send you one. You can epoxy the ball joint to the spider body, then dremel out the buzz off torso and then epoxy inside the torso and set around the ball joint. He will be able to spin around and pivot pretty well. Just a thought.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Thing (cause I don't know what else to call it) just came to be. The dream came cause of part working with all these parts every day....of course watching the movie might've influence a tiny bit. I know that I have to add too the outer body to make it look, gooey and in the middle of the changing stage. Maybe it need to be dragging guts and intestines?

I just found these photos of the THING 2 figures Cancelled!
http://www.unseen64.net/2009/02/19/the- ... ncelled-2/
And there's in the works the THING 3 for late 2013...I hope it's better than movie 2. Carpenters version still is the best by far!

Thanks again and to RedRebelCustoms and Batman1016 personnel notes!

All ideas and comments welcomed! It can only improve or keep me from making wrong turns. You've been there...when you zing and your should of zanged!

I love that Webstor head it's gonna look brutal!!

As for joining the two halves maybe some kind of nut and bolt assembly could work, you might have to crack the torso to get it in and maybe do some sculpting to make it work but other than that I'd have no clue. Maybe the piece from another figures waist swivel could work too.

The focus (I thought) was on my Webstor custom and Shapp blows me away on my Thing Custom. By the way, thanks for the kind words Shapp! Spikes bursting out of the feet! That is totally SICK! I love it! I have always tried to step out of the box in my creating, including making fishing lures. Bass fishing has always been fun and using certain color combination always proved great results for me. Thanks to movies like The Thing, the Fly, Hellraiser, I am legend, Descent, Resident Evil and a host of there's the mutate man into something other than...human, can only give you a custom like this! Just in time for Halloween dontcha' think? Coming up the right colors to paint this creature is going to be fun!

OH! you could remove the human feet and add little spikes or sculpt it so that it looks like the spikes are bursting out from the feet

I just saw this thing and pictured one of the heads looking more human and have this look of pain and anguish like he is saying "help me"

maybe have some human legs still attached to a lower torso that is "growing" out of the bottom and maybe have the tail attached to it at like the tail bone or something.

I love the idea that this used to be a human that is changing into something else

this thing is freaking terrifing and awesome.
