So I've been working on this guy for about a month or two now, and I wanted to show off the entire process of how he was made... because well, I've honestly never done such an intensive rework of a head and face before on a figure. I just want some input and to see if anyone has any future suggestions. He's a gift/commission for a friend who adores Klingons, and she specifically wanted a Next Gen Klingon wearing an Original Series uniform. So I tried my best to replicate both worlds in a larger scale.
Now starting off I used a Spirit Ironknife from the Sigma 6 line.
I lopped off the front of his hair and removed the headband and took a whack at sculpting the forehead.
After doing so I did a little base coat of tan, then chopped off the rest of his hair. I also filled in his cheeks some and then added the scar downward. Then added on his BEEG KLINGON EYEBROWS! And a little goatee.
A little more progress on paint and making his hair look right.
I seriously held my breath while painting the white of the eyes because... Well if you look at any of my customs where I actually painted the eyes its just awful. lol
And here he stands currently with silver suit accents, belt, damaged eye, and waiting on his silver vest.
I've never quite documented a custom this thoroughly, but I figured it'd be fun to share.
I generally got the figures and parts off of Ebay for pretty reasonable a price, they still ended up being blitzingly stupid expensive figures, but I was able to buy them in increments.
The bodies are just basic Hot Toys bodies, I would suggest buying a DamToys body off http://www.blackopstoys.com, its the same style and body and fits all the same hands and feet.
Love it all, hey. Where is everyone getting these Ashly wood figs? I can't find anyone selling them for anything other then an arm and a leg? Keep up the good work!
So J Wheezy's really great Big Boss wip made me want to get off my butt and try to make a proper one as opposed to my little dinky one I made a long time ago. Only have a little quick shot of the head. I bought a DC Collectibles maskless Death Stroke, he's about 7" tall and has a really cool suit of armor. I'm shooting for trying to make him look like Big Boss in a sneaking suit. Let the beardening begin!
Messing with the Terminator I made a while back, I really was on the fence about giving him a new head, but I felt maybe this would look better, opinions?
Opinions? Also, making a second version of my custom, an even more posable Terminator.
Woo! Started work on Player 2 for my Contra themed series. I'm kind of... stumped on how to make her armor look, so for now I'm just kind of cleaning up seems and such. She has a back piece, like Player 1, she'll probably use a lot of Halo armor pieces because I have a full bag of those. I think what I have planned is mohawk, eye patch, red armor, and I want her to use blades.
I had a pile of spare parts, and honestly I felt bad for them. So now I have... ACTION BRO! Totally awesome generic hetero white male protag to the rescue! He's so totally middle of the road that the average gamer is sure to relate to him. I don't even know what I'm doing... Any suggestions what he should be?
He'll make a nice shelf piece, I was just hoping the Captain Stripes legs were more posable... The hips are just damn near aaaaaawful. I mean they move, but mine shattered internally under the rubber pants mold, so I had to tear it down and rebuild him. Also, the front part of the pants really messes with his ability to bend his legs.
Overall though, snag Stripes while he's cheap! Really great fodder body for generic military clothes.
Yep, its an RE1 build of Chris. He's a Hudson upper body and a Captain Stripes lower body. That's about how his colors will look, needs some touching up, then I'm going to build him a removable vest like my Leon.
As for player 2, she's waiting on a proper female body.
Midway through WIP on a new figure. Shirt and pants need a little touching up, I'm glad I got all the skin matched up. He just needs his vest, knife, and a pistol. Anyone want to guess who he is?
Woo, double post! I started work on a Cyberpunk themed heavy gunner made from Sam Fisher. There's no real direction on this guy, I've just been sculpting and adding as much junk as possible. I'm hoping for suggestions on color scheme.
Thanks so much for all the compliments, I've had to go back and do some maintenance on the vest though... darn thing has decided to get all sticky from the silver paint.
Nice retooling of that head. The (in)famous Klingon forehead looks pretty spot on. About the eyes: I'd apply a thin black line on the top and bottom part. Not too much, because that'll make him look like some emo goth type Klingon

I think I will be turning into a regular customer...lol

Toy Anxiety I like most though, super friendly and responsive customer service, they'll even help make sure what parts can go together for you.
Gotta ask though...where the deuce are you getting such cool 12 inch gear? I feel like I only see bottom bin stuff when I actually find it
Update on the 1/6 guys skin, I did a bunch of washings and I got some sponges, he seems to look properly grungy now.
Keep it up! Need to find that cyber punk gunner end result?! Gonna go find it now?!

The Player 2 character?
I need to take some non-potato quality pictures, but he's pretty much done.
