Hey everyone! I just want to share some progress pics of a commission piece I'm doing for Darth Teitanis. When he first came to me with the Idea, I thought it would be a hugely difficult undertaking, then I did a little research and thought it would be easy. Turns out I was right the first time haha. Regardless, it's been a blast working on this and he's been a fantastic dude to work with!! Anyway, here are the pics: Batman the Animated Series.
I started off with this guy, which I realize now there were probably better base figures to start with, but it worked.
Dremeled down a huge amount of bulk
Sand and smooth
Remove belt and begin resculpt with torso, legs and arms
More clean up
Block in belt
Block in head. Here's where it got a bit tricky. I actually tried sculpting over the original head, but sculpting over a rubber head with magic sculpt was a major pain and lead to cracks, so I ended up cutting the neck and head off of a marvel legends spiderman, fusing it to the body, and sculpting over it.
Here's where it is currently
Still a ways to go. I'm being maticulously anal about every little thing, so it's taking a lot of time, but it's worth it to see a nicely articulated batman TAS. I know there's been a few of these on this site, I just hope to do those justice. I'll keep updating with progress, I'll even post some W.I.p. pics of the mignola batman I did as well. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for looking!
Ha don't feel bad at all! I got the even rarer Batman figure that was only released in the UK so I could take it apart and use the cowl for a custom. I think that figure is $200 plus mark now but I had my favorite Batman custom for years so it was worth more to me.
Thanks everyone! I've been pretty busy all week so no updates at the moment. And I had no idea that the base figure I used was so rare, now I feel terrible. Thanks truwe316 haha
Now add the yellow oval crest on his chest.
This looks really neat. Can't wait to see the finished piece!
Are amazing.
