I am current in the works of making a Slave I cockpit to do comics w/ my Boba Fett in. Here are my preliminary pictures. If you have any advice on what I should have laying around in there or what I should have on walls, let me know. I plan on making the real thing out of Sentra which is like PVC in sheets. I have a bunch of blue sheets from a failed plan to make Boba Fett armour, so I think it's only fitting I use it in this project.
Cool, I think I'm going to make a little cockpit set like this too for Punisher so I can show him riding around in the PAV-1 (Yeah, it needs a better name xD )
UPDATE... (sorry it's taking so long)
I've just gotten hinges. I'll probably hide them and the gap with electrical tape. You can also see the light holes where the LEDs will come through on the top. Oh, and it's silver! And that bit of Legos on the bottom is the cabin door.
Uh... got busy? I'm still looking for hinges for the sides so's I can move the walls to take pictures decently. I've painted the inside with a silver paint, drilled holes for lighting, designed computer screens for both side walls. Sorry for the lack of updates.
It's "Galactic basic" the language of most humans in Star Wars. Which is odd because they have X-Wings and Y-Wings and A-Wings which are obviously named after their shapes and yet the letters in their alphabet look nothing like the ship! I imagine X, Y, and A are shapes like squares and circles are shapes to us. The font is called Aurek-Besh. I took some liberties in areas that required numbers and faked them with letters shaped like our numbers because the numbers in Aurek-Besh are little dots.
Here's the ginormus version of the cosole in full pixel resolution. Some stuff appears blurry because I hade to enlarge it, but when it is printed at the scale, it is clear.
Here are some images for my main consule. I made these in Photoshoppe.
I used Aurek Besh as the font to make it in Basic, the Star War language.
The console on the left displays damage.
The right console links to the Bounty Network and has a file on Han Solo pulled up.
The top console displays speed, heading, altitude, and shield and weapons power on the right.
The center console shows a computized view of outside weapon targeting in the center. On the right is the target (it reads "no target" below this is the target's speed, heading, and weapons. On the left is a keyboard for commands above this is a holo-emitter which I will have light in probably.
Here it is put together without any paint work and without details.
As I said before, I will be making things for the background like some lockers and shelves, monitors, deckplating, wiring, and other things. I will also design something in Photoshoppe to print out an put on the command console for realism.
I might go all out and have side wall monitors give off light so I won't have to have too much overhead lighting.
Pretty neat, but like you said, pretty expensive. I think I'll stick to Sentra and Apoxie and bits and ends.
I could probably make the diamond plate floor with Sculpy or something in negative and then cast it to get a positive with the raised effect of diamond plate.
Any other suggestions are welcome. Anyone have an idea on what the interior should be like? I'm thinking I'll make it like Serenity from "Firefly". You know, realistic with stuff showing and dirty. Common, Boba Fett's armour is scratched and damaged, I doubt he cleans oils and dusts the stuff in his cockpit. And I imagine he has wiring showing for easy access.
He's one of those guys that when you go to his place he's ripped off the door to the circuit breaker and when you ask, "What happened to the door?" He replies, "It was in the way."
Damn, I guess his helmet works like Magneto's against Xavier
There's this place that sells molds to build sets but the molds are kinda small, I think they're mostly for 3 3/4 inch figs, but if you make enough bricks you an build a hell of a set. There are some special "sci-fi" molds to use in ships like Boba's down the list.
I think I'll give the car an AI like KITT, except without the accent.
PAT (Punisher Asssault Tank) - "Whats that smell!?"
Frank - "Wasn't me."
PAT - "Lies!"

Betcha can't read a thing on it!

You buy the molds and then use plaster (or whatever you want) to cast the parts. Kinda pricey though at around 35 bucks per mold
A compartment in the wall to keep stuff in would be good. He could hide missles in there as big as the ship itself and and they would fit, fun gag
