will this dremel do??

Posted in Custom Workstation

will this dremel do for customizing, Dremel MULTIPro 285VC, features Dual speed 15,000 + 33,000rpm, it's at a really good price and if it will do all the regular jobs for customizing I might as well buy it .
but I am no expert in dremels and I was wandering if any of you can tell me if it is any good or not.

15000 - 33000 rpm is all you need. You can buy any bits you want for whatever job you want. My dremel has 20000rpm top speed and it can cut through metal pipes so yours should be good enough. Remember that a good dremel has high speed to do the job. They don't have much torque so if you buy a low-speed dremel it's pretty much useless except for drilling holes

I saw that xp400 thing at the walmart (opened the package) and it's too bulky for what I wanted. Battery-powered dremels give you the most manuverability but it's a good idea to get two battery packs, one to use while the other charges.

If its a good price and its a Dremel, I say go for it.
I personally, however, hate the battery powered Dremels. I use the top of the line 400 XPR w/ 5000-35000rpm which is awesome.

But the MULTIpro is good for just general, non heavy use. Don't expect to be about to cut huge things with it and it have still have a charge. But my experience with the battery powered ones is with a REALLY old Dremel the I eventually got angry at a smashed finally.
