UM.....help?

Posted in Custom Workstation

I did it. I started my first custom and hit a wall already. I figured with all the talented, versitle, put-toy biz- to-shame type guys here you could give a newbie a hand. I am looking for something to make a hood that I can paint to macth the rest of the fig. Im a big boy so if I need to melt it or bake it im cool with that. thanks

Hoo boy! I'm just happy that I'm not the only noob on here! I just boiled and popped my first 2 figures 10 minutes ago.

Woo-Hoo!

Okay back to the main reason of this thread... Sorry to have interrupted Hawkeye. BTW that is a cool Cobra Commander there.

OK I feel stupid. I was tired when I read it and SWEAR I read hook...Anyway these guys are right there are a bunch of figs with hoods you could use for a base, see I got it right this time . One thing you might want to try is looking through the toys at a dollar store, you never know what kind of knock offs you find. They might have something you could sculpt over.

Aw come on Hawk, you can make that out of fabric and it'll look great. Shins did a good job though

The Commander doesn't have a typical hood. His hood is this:

When I made my Commander I just used a ton of sculpty:

I made his head interchangeable so I could go back and forth:

yea I would say try the hobgoblin since his top hood comes off. I'm pretty sure paint will hold, if not, use krylon fusion then paint it. Hope that helps.

Well, try looking for Azrael, Moon Knight, Hobgoblin, Ringwraith, or Skeletor since they all have hoods.

You could make the hood out of Aragorn's cape. If it's too flexible then put a drop of liquid latex in your paint before you paint the hood so the paint will be able to flex in case the hood ever bends.

Or you could make the hood out of fabric?

I've got an Aragorn that came with a plastic cape I thought I could melt and shape but I don't think it would hold paint. The hood I want to make is more of a mask than a hood but its loose at the bottom. Thanks for the suggestion.

You could either sculpt one, go out and buy one of the new MoonKnight figures and steal his hood and make it to your liking or if you could find some of the Lord of the Rings figures, some come with cloaks with hoods, the Nazgual have no heads so you could take their hood, I think the FigureRealm shop had a few for about $10
