Lol, cool Pun, I don't like how bubbly the base figure is though, too round. I like the square shoulders and features from the first DCSH Superman.

you had to go and bring that one up...

unfortunately that Punisher died of acetone poisoning during his creation.

I will probably revisit that idea with a DCUC Regen Suit Superman at some point in the near future.

Lightray

I fixed him!

the right hip joint of my Lightray was frozen solid and in the midst of trying different things to un-stick it it tore off at the peg. luckily I'm a customiser and had a couple spare DCUC 1 Orion's that I scored on clearance at a K-Mart, so I swapped his head to one of those. but what about poor little Lightray you ask? well after cussing a lot I cracked open LR's crotch and the crippled up Orion's. took O's right hip / upper leg and swapped LR's lower leg onto that. did some sanding, cleaned it off, masked the boot, grabbed my trusty Badger Anthem (thanx again FF!) and blasted it with MM White. then I had to blast the other leg so that they would match. repainted his trunks with Citadel Foundation Mechite (?) Red and put him back together. another problem was LR's head was loose on it's neck peg and the peg was loose in the neck joint. I had discovered Zap-A-Gap glue at the hobby store a couple days before and it gave me an idea... I put a few drops in LR's head to fill it up a bit and let it cure for a couple hours then tested the fit. the first time it was too full so I dremelled a it a bit, tried again, dremelled a bit more and then got the peg in and it's a nice 'n tight. for the neck joint I took a bit of one of the clear restraining bands Mattel and Hasbro use in their packaing and slid it into the neck joint. popped the head on and wundebarr! it's good and tight. lastly I touched up a couple white paint slop drips on his face. now my Lightray is a golden New God!

Bane update....

3rd try on the belt and I'm finally happy with it. made it from styrene. I love this stuff and will be using it more and more! haven't decided if I'm going to add anymore details to it.

also finished sculpting his shirt tonight. props to my old friend George who gave me some pointers in sculpting.

some clean up sanding and a bath tomorrow and then I'll paint him up.

yamivash 0 > that's why we do WIPs, so others can ridicu.. er... I mean... give us tips and suggestions. seriously; WIPs are great for getting helpful tips.

Bakit?! > thanx and I thickened up Bane's neck a bit. I had to anyway because the top part of the SD's neck was weak and broke so I fused the top of a SOTA Ken's neck to it. it also gave me that DCUC style neck peg in the process.

Batman is rolling along nicely... IMHO at least

I'm also in the middle of sculpting Bane's shirt. new pics of that soon.

here's Bane with the boots from a TNA Wrestler. I think they fit him much, much better but I think I gotta shorten his legs a little bit as he still has funky looking shins...

I need to reset the right one and then I'll sculpt some pants billowing out a bit at the top of the boots.

Nice! I just started re-reading the Knightfall books too, and have been pondering doing a very similar figure to yours! The Dragon upper body is great for it, and thinking of going with an XMC Ultimate Sabertooth lower body for the little extra height and to get the combat boots in. THe Juggernaut arms look great for this one, may have to steal that idea :-)

needed to blow the dust off of this thread...

been reading Batman: Knightfall and have decided that Kelley Jones later interpertations of Bane brainwashed everyone into believing Bane is supposed to be as big as a house. and for a while now I've been trying to come up with a Bane custom that uses the DCSH Bane head but doesn't make it look totally pinhead. I also would like it to fit in with my DCUC collection. today I had a flash of inspiration and did some kitbashing...

I plan on integrating some combat boots in place of booties which will give him a little more height, right now he's about 2/16ths of an inch taller than the DCUC Batman and I'd like him to be just a tad taller.

I feel I'm onto something here.

By the way guys, it's always a good idea if you're making a caped figure to have the cape cover the shoulders so you don't have to worry about paint rubbing there, out of sight, out of mind @_@

Lol, it's not hard at all, in this case you just glue the parts together, it's only when you need to keep waist articulation that it gets screwy @_@

Looks cool!

Cuz Hasbro is run by a bunch of doody heads?

Starting a new job, this is for a customer and I'm pretty excited how it's turning out so far.

Hush Batman

My customer wants the DCD Hush Batman Head and Cape on the DCSH Batman. I was taking the cape off the Hush Batman by warming it up in hot water to loosen the glue and I noticed that the upper body felt really soft so I decided to try a trick I was contemplating. What also spurred me on was how funky the DCSH Bats neck is after removing the cape. It also occurred to me that the DCSH Bat's neck is set wrong. It's too high on his shoulders. So I used an Exacto Knife to seperate the Hush Bat's cape and neck. Sawed off the DCSH Bat's neck. Used my dremel with sander bit to take off the excess from the underside of the Hush Bat's neck and to flatten out the DCSH Bat's funky shoulders. Presto! I think this ROCKS!

The sodding Union Jack here is from a new Hasbro Marvel Legends Series that's a bleedin' Target Exclusive affectionately known here by us Yanks as Red Hulk Wave. eBay Scalpers and stupid customizers like me are scoopin' 'em up like crazy leavin' sweet FA on the pegs.

Thanx for the compliment doctorwhoroxs1!

Sculpting complete on Moon Knight!

avatar
Buzzy Fret -
Monday, September 22, 2008
Yeah the pegs on the UJ's hip balls were that Hasbro Top Hat style and the pegs on the MK were Mushroom style. The boots fit right because I'm using the ML MK's legs too. I wanted to use those boots because I thought that when painted brown they had a more military / commando look to them. That's the same way DL did his and I loved the look. It's not "Comic Book Accurate" but I don't care because I'm making it for myself.

Using the MK legs and boots probably added a quarter inch to his height too. The stock RH UJ is really puny looking. Maybe I'll take a pic of him next to the RH Spidey for comparison as the Spidey is the exact same body as UJ.

thats what I love aboot 'em.They go on with ease and look pefect, especially superman's.The Moon knight boots look perfect for Union jack looks like they were meant fer him, looks like the calf muscles align perfectly.Thats kinda wierd that you'd have to hack up Moon Knight's legs and head and mod them jus to get them to fit.Arent Moon Knight and Union Jack the same body? You'd think all you'd have to do is heat and pop just to get em on.
avatar
Buzzy Fret -
Monday, September 22, 2008
Yep, no mod necessary to make 'em fit. Had to cut off the neck and leg pegs and replace with screws to get the MK head and legs on though!

I was worried the arms would be too big but they ended looking the best. Tried ML4 Punisher's arms - wouldn't go on, FO Punisher's arms just looked weird - the scultp on them is uberdetailed. Everything else I have is either too big or too skinny. These DCUC arms will do until something better comes along.

Another Red Hulk Wave Fixer Up

Union Jack

Feel like I'm finally coming Full Circle. The thing that inspired me the most to start customizing was a Custom Union Jack by DarthLeon that he had up for auction on eBay. I thought it was so cool looking and it was the spark that lit my customizing fuse. I tried to do one early on and it was a miserable failure. Now Hasbro has offered up a chance for me to make my own even if it is by way of mod more than custom.

The RH Wave UJ was a little on the wimpy side IMO. It's his tiny pea head and skinny arms and legs. So I replaced his head and legs with the ones from my UJ disaster and I've tried a bunch of different arms and I think this pair from a DCUC Manta work the best. All the ML arms I have are either too big and detailed or they're the skinny MK, CM, Bullseye ones. And now he can hold bigger, better weapons instead of the little tiny things Hasbro packed with him.

Paint next!

I got sidetracked for a couple days by this project.

I found the Target Exclusive ML Red Hulk Wave Black Suit Wolverine and wanted to try something I was thinking of. I had also seen Jin's TS Wolvie on eBay and that pushed me over the edge!

I took a different route than Jin though.

Behold!

Fixit & Magnets in his forearms

Funky needles for claws and Magnets countersunk in some DCUC fists

Huzzah!

I also fixed his belt emblem with a bit 'o' decopauge.

Alas Mighty Tom, the Thor project thine eyes gazed upon was Ragnaroked. Twas folly for me to have attempted such a custom at that point as my skills were still being honed. High are mine own hopes that I might revisit it soon and thus create a Thor that is truly a grand representation of Asgard's Mighty Lord of Thunder. Very soon...

Sorry, Robin's not done yet. Waiting for the clear coat on his insignia decal to cure properly so's there's no foul ups when I do the transfer.

In the meantime... back to making cool Marvel Characters

Moon Knight

A much bigger and tougher version than the ML one. I actually started on him a couple months ago and he's been laying disassembled on my work bench. Today I finished all his sanding and prep work and reassembled. Now he's ready for me to sculpt his gloves, boots and belt, that is unless I can find a suitable belt that will go on him...
