Vallejo paints

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey guyz,

I know not a lot of people here have used vallejo, but does anyone know if the vallejo game color can be used for airbrush, if thinned out? I know they have the vallejo air paints for airbrush, but thats like another $200 bucks. so anyone know if the acrylics can be used? Thanks in advance!

I personally use tamiya, but the colors are limited so I do occasionally resort to other brands.
If you use Tamiya you will notice like the whites are thin & watery, but say black will always be clumpy on the bottom. Of course they need mixed before using but some times you still need to thin them also.

For my airbrush I use denatured alcohol for ALL cleaning & thinning, you can buy it in the paint section of any hardware store. I find that generally everything needs thinning except Tamiya ( even then sometimes).

I understand Clear Windex can be used also. I havent used that though.

If you leave you paint open overnight by mistake just add some denatured alcohol & mix to revive it!

I got my Testor's Acrylic Thinner through a site called along with a couple other things I couldn't find locally. It's a great place to get supplies and tools but they take a couple days to process your order and ship it.

Or you could try thinning with water.

buzzy is spot on GJ, I have used my Game COLOR airbrush and it works great, I didn't even thin it at all.... but I imagine it could help... Tamiya thinner is sorta special for the way tamiya is made.... I would look at wal-mart for the Testors thinner, thats where I found mine.

I haven't tried them in my airbrush yet but I'm sure if thinned they will work in an airbrush just as well as Testor's and Citadel. For thinning the Vallejo you might try using Testor's Universal Acrylic Thinner instead of just water.
