make those banners that go in the corner of pics

Posted in Custom Workstation

I saw that a lot of customizers are doing this and wanted to follow suit. If theres anyone willing to do it for me on a couple pics I would appreciate it. Also if any of you know of a program that can add banners to pictures and that is super easy to manage cause I don't want those type of programs that I need to take a small class just to know how to work it.

If you don't know what I'm talking about look at this pic

Make sure the toolbar looks like this:

So that if there is white behind the picture or words of the banner, that won't show up when you put it on the picture of the figure.

What do you mean "look at it in my pictures"? Just make sure your pictures are a decent size pixel wise. I usually do mine at 500 px tall

My pictures file on the computer.

Ok I succeeded in making the banner go on the picture but don't understand what you said about making the white on it disappear. So that you see the picture behind the banner instead of that white background.

Ok I got it I have someone making a banner for me as we speak so I used your Avatar as practice.

In case the guy doesn't come through for me can you give me a quicky tutorial on how to make a banner on GIMP or mabi some pointers.

The only problem Im having is that when I size down the picture so that it looks like a reasonable size on paint it comes out really small when I look at it in my pictures.

Then open a new window of paint with your logo in it and copy it and paste it into the picture image.

Ok, first do you have a banner?

Well anyway, go to the toolbar on the left side of the screen, select the select tool(dashed-line box), and then below the tools that are there, two pictures should appear, that should look practically identicle and the top one should be surrounded by blue(meaning that it is selected), so select the bottom one, so that when you bring in the banner, any white in the banner will be transparent so you can see the main picture underneath.

Also, if you're making the banner yourself, make sure you saved the banner image as a PNG, as they are the best for preserving colors, unlike jpeg or gif.

then edit->paste from and get the banner image, and move it where you want it on you're image.

Also there is a photoshop-like program called gimp that is free to download, and with that or photoshop you can make pictures that have a transparent background so if you get one of the two programs you can do something similar in there but, because of the background being transparent, you could have you're text or whatever white without being transparent.

You could either make a simple one in paint yourself, or you could have someone make a better one for you in photoshop.

As for adding the banner to a picture, you can go into paint, insert the main picture by going "edit->paste from" and getting the image, then resizing the border and/or picture to the size you need, then select the select tool and select the 2nd of the two options for the select tool at the side, to make it so that white is transparent and go "edit->paste from" again and get the picture of your banner and place it where you want it on the picture.

Yeah I get that a lot but just trying to get a free copy is hard enough altho finding one is easy but one that works and when you get a copy that works you don't know how to do what you want it to.

I'm pretty sure it's just Photoshop.
