hi, Im new and need help, please.

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hi, I have just started to get into making customs, and by just started, I mean only a couple days ago. I decided I should learn some basics before I delve into my first project, so I started with basic joint disassembly, which I learned about in the tutorials section. The only thing is Im having trouble popping out the chest on the figure Im experimenting on. Could someone please explain to me in detail how to do this so that I can get on my way. I would also like to say, you guys are awesome. Making custom figures is amazing and you all have great talent and skill and I hope to be as good as you all some day.

Actually on flesh I only use two colors, Citadel Elf Flesh and Drawf flesh. Drawf is darker. I lay down that coat first and drybrush Elf Flesh on top.

Depends on what color your custom's skin should be.

I use Vallejo paint and I have about 7 different shades of "flesh".

Like Doc said, if you want the CHEST in two pieces, use a screwdriver and ease it apart at the seams.

If you want the upper torso seperated from the legs(like to change the legs from one figure to another), grab the figure and snap'er at the peg. Then just get a small screw, drill it into the legs(with a VERY small gap between the screw head and the top of the legs so you still get the swivel), take your new upper torso and put a hole into it so it can fit onto the screw head, twist it on over the screw head and boom, new legs on an old figure.

As for skin tone, it really depends on what paint brand you are using. If you can find a tone you like, use it, though you might get some chipping at the joints. I think most of us here mix our own to fit the shade's we want.

thanks, guys. you have been very helpful. I appreciate it very much. But now I must ask another question. what is a good color to use for skin tone?

Disconnecting the chest form the leg peg? I don't understand

If you want to take the entire thing apart, try using a little screwdriver and wedge in-between the seams of the figure (the thin gap where the two halves of the figure come together) and pry them apart. That will separate the upper-body from the lower-body most of the time.

Explain what you mean by popping out the chest.

Do you mean breaking it apart into the two seperate chest pieces or disconnecting it from the leg peg?

Welcome to the Realm though, good to see new people
