I never made a zombie, never will. ehh I hate zombies.
But I think everyone has their ow style, I haven't see exact doubles out there
I admit I made a "CaptainMarvel base deadpool" who hasn't ?
But I learned originality and being the first one to make a figure feels great, really great
Agree. The only reason I do zombie customs is because A: the fig is broken. or B: I have a million of the same figure. I'm in the making of a certain guitarest and singer. But I'am tired of Marvel caracters, I mean about 60% percent of the customs on this site are Marvel caracters. Marvel isn't the only comic publishing company, I'd like to see more music related figures or T.V related ones.
This is why I also make original customs...lol. Like Lwes said though, it can be a double edge sword at times on what peoples reactions will be and what if any comments you'll receive for a certain piece weather its original or not. Now, I do have my own style of painting and I normaly don't see anyone that paints the same style as myself but your feedback really depends on whos online and when their online.
In spite of what I said earlier in this thread, I do like WELL DONE customs of any kind, even if it's another Deadpool, Zombie, or some other character that has been done, redone, overdone, and done again. I would actually like to do a Deadpool myself someday, I think he's a cool character and it's next to impossible to get a ML series one cheaply. And I have to confess that I shelled out some dough for one on ebay, but even then, I was not satisfied with the figure. Now this has already been discussed on this thread, but I think the key is not only to make a well done custom, but to put your own signature style or twist on the character...do something different than what everybody else is doing. I'm working on a LCBH Conan right now (of course, it was inevitable) but I am a little late in getting around to doing one. Now about a half dozen customizers or so have already done one, so here I am trying to figure out how to do mine differently so I'm not just "ripping off" someone else's idea. So I'm not in a hurry to get it done, but it will be some day...and I may do a Deadpool someday...probably when his popularity has faded and he's replaced by some "New kid on the block."
So in addition to making a custom that is well done, stylistic, and "done with a twist," there is definitely something to be said about moderation. Having said that, everyone has their favorite characters. For some that is Deadpool, others maybe the Punisher or Wolverine. For me it's Conan, and you can expect many variations of him from me in the future. I expect that is the same for everyone who has a favorite character, so that is something we just have to accept. But I can promise you that you will never see me do a Conan Zombie or Conan as Captain America!
The bottom line is that customizing should be fun and everyone has the right to make whatever character they want. I'm sure that the demographics of all of the members on figurerealm would show a very wide range of ages, skill levels, and personal reasons which led them here in the first place. I'm just glad we have a place like this to show off our stuff!
I agree totally, put your own twist to is cause the monjority of customizers can't perfectly replicate the comics, and those who try arn't the best period (thats on ebay of course, not here ), I think if your trying to copy the comic artist you have to be a pro and experienced to attemt that, and besides I like seein the personal styles of each customizer, like boskoes you can tell their work cause the paint job is solid and saturated to pop off the screen, the shyyt is bold and eye grabing, and wings you know its him cause the consant use of certain base bodies like wonder man and bullseye plus the cool way most of the figs are self portaits in a way.LWes you know its him cause his customs are grim and rough no soft edges at all, the figures have that enviromental harshness to it making it one hardcore toy. every one on here has a style that Im starting to reconize and I love that, even the novices on here you can see them developing a personal tough to their work, BUT PLEASE STOP THE SHYYYTY ZOMBIE CUSTOMS EBAY NEEDS TO KICK OFF THE CRAP
this is why I make original characters. no chance that anything I make has been seen before, since I just made it up. of course, with the way that I finish projects, theres no way you'll see them anyway
I do a lot of DPs and Punishers but they are for resale. These guys have the crazy fanbase that will buy these figures as long as they are customized. One thing I do try to do however is make them somehow different and ad a little of my personal creativity to the figure.
Yeah, characters that don't have figures I absolutly understand that people make, but the same ones that have 10+ figures already?
About some figures being expensive is also a very viable reason. Like I'm planning on making a Juggernaut because I'm not gonna pay the price he fetches on eBay.
and Sean: If you weren't sarcastic and really planned on making all these figures, I think it's just that every customizer can do whatever figures they want as long as they know the situation and every new Wolverine won't get as many comments as more original ideas, but then again, there are lots of great customs of obscure characters that don't get a lot of attention either.
It's hard to please the crowd. If you make an obscure character, you might no get comments because no one knows who it is and if you make one of the big names, you might not get comments because we've all seen it before.
So I think it has to do a lot with the execution of the figure. I can see a Wolverine that captures my attention because it's really well done and same thing with characters I've never seen before.
If the figure is good, then it doesn't matter what character it is, but of course there's a higher standard for the characters that have been made lots of times.
yeah I am pretty tired of seeing crappy Marvel Zombie customs for auction. Just stop. You need practice. What is funnier is the fact the starting bid for these things is like 25-30 bucks. please. This is ruining the hobby, garbage customs flooding the market.
thats right!!!! ZOMBIES!!!! I mean people don't even do it right, just because you take a perfectly good figure and instead of makin something worth wild they mess it up and call it a zombie. no skills at all, Im sick and tired of good figuresgoin to waste

My own plan is to make a Jean Grey, as she is too expensive to get hold of.
What I don't get is why everyone does punishers??? Don't get me wrong, they are all very cool, but I count about 6 puns available through ML alone!
And the others you guys have mentioned too, Wolverine, Batman, Superman etc.
And actually ALL X-Men characters. It's all X-Men, X-Men, X-Men...
I love zombie figures
Although I have yet to make one.
Zombies
Cable
Wolverine
Batman
Superman
Winter Soldier
Everyone seems to make em.
Not that it's a bad thing per say. People like what they like.
