Try charity shops and car boot sales. If you get chance, there are often lots of baskets of loose figures and stuff at like five for a quid or something.
I managed to get some Spider man classic figs (including mad jack and shocker!!) in a bundle at a help the aged shopin Stockport. Cost me £2 for all of them (about 8 or so).
Also, toys r us has Fantastic four movie figures at £1.99 at the moment (although it's only Mr Fantastic and Torch). They may work well as fodder for you.
TRU also does the Mojo line for £3.99 right now.
I can understand your folks not being crazy about you trading on the internet, I don't know how old you are pal, but I am a "grown man" with a pretty decent job, ad I still get stung with postage bills and so on.
If they are ok with you trading within UK, there are a few of us who can trade, and if you're only swapping bits (heads and so on) it should not cost more than like 50p at a time.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the advice I'll look more closely I always keep on finding mc donald toys mainly at charity shops but I guess its the luck of the draw

you will not believe the number of times I've tried explaining that

you need to explain to your parents that 80% of the worlds population deals with the internet. It's part of society now, and just like online you can get ripped off at a store too. Customizing is connected to the net. To find fodder, figures and supplies, most of the time cheaper than retail.
