Wal Mart sucks

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

So I had a few extra bucks today and I thought I'd try and find some figures to customize... I was at Wal Mart and thought "why not"... so I headed to their action figure aisle. Man, their selection is bad. I saw NO female action figures at all, and no male figs worth anything. All they seemed to have were Power Rangers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four (no Sue), Ben 10, and Transformers. Any other stores would be far across town and a lot of gas to reach.

Does that particular Wal Mart just plain suck or have others had similar experiences?

our walmarts, I'm between 2 of them, are hit and miss. the one my dad works at sucks when it comes to inventory of any sort, the other sucks when it comes to ML and such. its mostly power rangers and that crap. They don't' even bother having clothing such as bratz that you can mod into figure outfits. their website is that way too, every transformer I wanted was out of stock.

I have a really rare fig, according to some people, I heard it was a prototype, only like 200 made... might sell it might not... wow, thats off topic

Walmart is somewhat ok for me. I do get figures that I want badly, but I just find it a few weeks later than it was originally released. But I really like walmart, I just need to search like crazy and I get things unexpectingly.

Suffering like a lot of you. Wal*Mart barely restocks, very few Marvel Legends, no DC anything that isn't from a movie, ext. At least they have plenty of Transformers.

Think thats bad?! The only place I have to got to with a decent toy selection is about an hour and a half of non-stop driving! And I only get to go maybe every other month (my wal-mart never has any good stuff...)

I walked into my local Wal Mart yesterday to find that they have apparently stopped carrying MLs altogether (at least my Wal Mart). Odd.

Walmart used to be good like 5-10 years ago. I really hate the store but I go looking for the dumb halo 3 exclusives. Walmart is best known for scalpers around me. I used to love Toys R Us but they even got junk these days. The only stuff I see if stuff a little kid would not want. While I stand there looking I rarely see any kids stop and look at figures at both of these stores these days. The KBToys store used to rock for nice mark downs but I never see good stuff for years now. The only place I find good deals is on retail online store sales. I also love buying figure lots on ebay. Finding those these days getting harder to.

I know the Aliens Wynonna Rider is from a few years ago, Electra is from 96? I think and The Zealot and Fairchild are from the 90s. What Scarlett is it? Im not sure if there are any rare ones there tho. I checked Toyfare and theyre not listed, but that could mean they are hard to find and noones letting them go. Does anyone else know? BTW Pun, you should start a seprate thread for your question, a lot more people will check it out and you may get a better anwser than I could give you.

I want them for customization, and I can't find any female figs in town at all. What I mean is to your knowledge are any of those figs there older and hard to find?

Are the worth it to you? What were you using them for, customs or display? Either way 15 figures for $20 is pretty sweet.
I think they did change the short packing but the demand still excedees the supply.

I knew that used to be the case, but I figured it may have changed.

I asked the following in the "Look what I got" thread, but no one answered. Maybe you can tell me, Hawkeye.

I just won this lot in Ebay... it was $15.00 plus 5 bucks shipping. Did I just get ripped off or is this in fact a treasure trove of figs for that price?

They're listed as:

"Cynder

Call (Alien Winona Ryder)

Hellina

Fakk 2 (Julie Strain)

Zealot (Jim Lee's Wildcats)

Fairchild (Gen13)

Scarlett

Sable (WWF)

Chyna (WWF)

Delenn (Babylon 5)

Elektra Assasin

And three other figures that I do not know the name of."

Are female action figures in general rare?

Fantastic four figures - those based on the first movie line - ROCK
I especially like the 39 POA Human torch that also has a light up feature - nice fig by itself excellent customisation potential with its individual moving fingered hands

The comic based ones are pretty decent too

But yeah Sue would be nice - shes rare...

There are 4 walmarts close here and they are stocked full of POTC, Power Rangers, TFs and they have a supprising amount of Shrek figures. I did score The SM origins Green Goblin & Black SM for $8 a pop(they usally run $20)

The WM down the street from me has been crappy ever since it was remodeled, it does not even have a decent clearance aisle either. I mainly buy my figs from Target, Kaybee (only clarance stuff) and a WM about 20 miles away.

Well I went and inquired, and it looks like Kay Bee Toys no longer exists in my area. We had one at our local mall, but it went out of business a few years ago.

All depends on what you're going to use the figures for. I use them for comics so I love the crazy articulation, but I agree that they have to find a way to make female hips look nicer. The DCSH Batgirl is okay, I love that seperate out-wards hinge so the pants look like pants instead of an ugly ball there.

That'd be fine if it didn't detract from the beauty of the fig (in my opinion)... I went to Toys R Us today and saw a multitude of different figs (still very few females, however), and the super articulated ones looked less like humans and more like bad marionettes. Shoulders and hips looked like balls (not that kind!) and stuck straight out, and torsos looked divided in half with odd layers of plastic.

Prime example: Emma Frost in Marvel Legends. She's absolutely hideous. Macfarlane's got the right idea in terms of how to make toys.

Not anymore. I was there today and...Hold on let me start this by saying, if you're like 90 years old and don't know how to use a debit card, don't use them. Just stay home and wait for death, OK, anyway, like I said, I was there today and there was a couple of stock people putting out some new stuff. I saw a box for DCSH and some GR stuff, a Marvel legends box, and a butt load of Transformer boxes. I thought "Cool, I'll wander around and come back and see what they've put out" I come back and all I see are those stupid Disco Superman figs( ya know the one with the headband) and Parasite, One set of HML2( Yes I got Thor and She Hulk, and NO I'm not trading them ) a crap load of Scarecrows, and more Transformers then I give a fuzzy flying flip about. But the one thing they had in abundance...OLD PEOPLE. Not just shopping there, but working there as well. The last time I say that many geezers in one place was the last time I went to visit my Grandfather at the nursing home. ( Sorry if I seem kinda' jerkish...I'm sick, I get jerkish when I'm sick)

I buy more toys from zellers than wal-mart.

Most of the collectable grade stuff I have to buy from a specialty shop.

well I can't think of a full answer, but I guess it's for the posing. And to make it somewhat more realistic. Just think of the human body and how we can move parts that the older toys can't. Like our arms can bend all the way so we can touch our shoulders. Some of the older toys just go up half way. Same with articulated fingers, and hinged toes. But sometimes the POA doesn't even make sense. Like Spider Man 2099 from Origins. Spiderman is supposed to be agile, yet they gave him 10(?) POA.

Wal-Mart is sexist against female figs!.... No a single one.... Oh and my Wal-Mart isrealy screwy, one week they'll have 3 doll aisles and the next one! The dang dolls take over the action figure aisles a lot....

Separate question... what's with all the articulation in these modern figs? Jeez, even feet and torsos bend in half now. I really don't like that. I like my custom figs to remain stationary and look less like action figures and more like statues. Are the old figs hard to find anymore?

xD Dude, Hasbro MLs are 12 bucks here. Power Rangers are 8-10 dollars and McFarlane's stuff doesn't go below 13 bucks. Your best bet is to hit KB Toys and hope they still sell teh older MLs for 5 bucks each. Often they have sales and clearances on everything, that's when I buy the McFarlanes :P

Wal-Mart, grrrr...

Went to Wally's today - GRs on the Clearance Shelf where everything was marked $3 - grabbed 2 GRs and 2 Vengys everything else was Scarecrows... Go to check out... GRs and Veng ring up at $8... Whoa, whoa I says... 20 minutes later waiting for price check... Yep only Scarecrow and everything else on the shelf except GR and Veng is $3, they're $8. Grrrrr...

They have all HBML1s except Ult. IM. Not an HBML2 to be found.

You must be new in town and missed my countless complaints about Wal-Mart! :P

A lot of them stink, they don't carry anything useful anymore either, just power rangers and figures too small or too big for me to use. But Ratboy's WalMart and all the stores around him are all gold mines...
