How do you make/create grooves in the figure (like Forge's leg or Colossus body) for that "living metal look"

Thanks for the great ideas. I'll try my dremmel and also dig up my old Rambo knife...it had a wire saw in it

There are some cool wire-saws that you could use, they look like piano-wire coated in fine shrapnel.
