the only downside on using spary paint is that it has no control at all and you're figure will be prone to paint rub for sure. just be sure to spray evenly and thin and not leave "puddles" on the figure. that'll give you a lot fo problems.
Uh, I guess you can use silver spray paint. Then use clear blue paint over that. Krylon might make the clear blue spray paint, or you can buy from Tamiya's clear paints to brush it on. For the red, just use clear red instead of blue.
-Spray the figure all silver
-Spray it all clear blue
-Paint the red parts with a brush
I used the super-glue method recently and it was working just fine, then one day I turned the leg joint I used it on and the whole chunk of superglue cracked-off, paint and all, lol. Nothing is foolproof!
you can't really avoid it, you can TRY and prevent it, by sanding those areas or using the super glue shield method. but like I said you can't avoid it. sometimes even factory paint comes off. if you don't tend to pose the figure A LOT then you shouldnt worry too much about it then.
