Magnetising Silver Surfer

Posted in Custom Workstation

I bought the HML surfer because it had better shoulders than the old one. But he really can't pose on his board well. I was thinking of gluing small magnets to his feet and to the board. Would this be possible? Are there magnets small enough to fit in his feet? I might also do one somewhere on his back, so he can keep it there too. Where would I get tiny mangets?

I'm not sure how strong their pull would be threw the board but magnet to magnet would be PLENTY strong.

Better be careful not to let my Surfer go flying up against my laptop screen then

It says only $8 for a pack of 50? The tiny ones would probably just about squeeze in the pegs he already has, and then I could put a bunch of them on the underside of the board. There should be enough pull through glue and plastic right? It doesn't even need to be strong./

I'm not familiar with rare earth magnets. Just the standard ones you find at crafts shops. Hey, I said I could be wrong.

REM's are a little pricey but have an immense magnetic pull for their size. If you want something to stick and stick well, REM's are the way to go. Though, be careful, like I said, they are powerful!

Drill small holes into the bottom of his feet and the board, place the magnets in. Before sticking them, check you have them the right way round so his board will be attracted to his feet, not repelled...

Should also work through a thin coat of paint and sealant.

I doubt magnets that small would be sufficient in strength to hold a figure to the board, but I could be wrong. Best of luck in the attempt. Let me know if it works.
