Crappy plastic

Posted in Custom Workstation

Has anyone else noticed that some figures made of softer plastic, soft enough to be sliced with an knife blade and slightly bendy, doesn't paint? I primered one for this month's contest with the same primer I use on every figure and the crap won't dry even in the warmest part of the house. Its not wet enough to come off on my hands but its tacky enough to be a problem. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Its set me back a bit.

I'm going to try a coat of waterbased primer if I still have it and see if that helps. I ahd a figure like this before and it took a month for it to dry. I checked it and its just a generic gray equipment primer from walmart.

All it says is gray equipment primer. This is the only kind of plastic I have a problem with. It doesn't' even damage the plastic. It works great of transformers and ML style figures.

what kind of primer are you using? I've used the "premium" plastic primer and had the exact same problem. so I switched to automobile grade primer. and am pretty satisfied. hope this helps.
