I've seen a lot of posts here on different paint brands and one being better than the other. So a poll would be a good place to determine what all the customizers use. This would also help new customizers see what the favorite paints are by concensus. So make your vote here!
I voted Apple Barrel, although I haven't tried many of the other ones on the list, so I can't say my opinion is based on knowlede of all the brands. I also use Folk Art, but just for metallics. My figures are primarily paper-products based, which is why they probably work better for me than what I've seen some people experience on their plastic toys (although I must say that the times I've used them on plastics, they still came out okay for me). I'm also a cheap guy and buy the cheapest paint.
mostly spraypaints and then testors. I have a ton of craft paints but don't use them very often as I never had luck with them, which is a shame as there are some great colors that are hard to find otherwise.
Citadal here. I think it sticks well to the model/figure and its the only stuff I have around since I use it fore my warhammer minatures too. I don't know the price range fore other paints but I think this stuff is prety ekspensive.
I'm going to try some Vallejo Fantasy paints soon, but I mainly use Taimya and Modelmasters, they work the best for me. and I too seal everything afterwards.
I spray paint everything and do detail with testors or another paint. I never had any figures melt. Some take a LONG time to dry though. I also usually hit the figure with a base coat of cheap gray primer just in case (I learned what from model building).
I remade some of my figures from when I used glossy Testros paint, then used Apple Barrel paints to make them flat, not every now and then I have to fill in some spots from scraches.
That's my biggest problem, I can't find any paint that's durable. Testors and Tamiya seem to be durable from the customs I've bought and handled, but shipping costs suck, I have to pay like $5 a bottle to cover shipping costs.
Testors are my number one, but after my Walmart stopped carrying them I switched to Apple Barrel, but the paint easily scrapes off, but I never bought any sealer. Apple Barrel is cheap though, it's usually on sale at Michaels Craft Store.
Their by far my personal preference.
Works great!
The new washes and foudantion paints are the best!
