Loin cloth help

I'm putting together a Kingdom Come Wonder Woman JLU style and need help with the cloth from her waist. Here's a pic just to show you what she looks like just in case.




I first thought of using the material from a toothpaste tube and gluing the print on it, but that wasn't as stable and nice as I thought. I also considered using a cape from a figure and gluing the print on it but it was too thick. The only thing I could really think of was either using sculpt to make it but I don't know how to get the stars on it as well, it may not be as durable, or actually make a cloth and glue it on, but unless it's done really really well, I think it may look tacky. Any suggestions? How have you guys tackled this before?
