Here's a question you probably don't hear too often - when you've made that sweet custom figure, what do you do with it next? Store it in a bin, display it on a shelf? Since I'm getting a little into customizing, I'm wondering what to do with the customs after they're done.
Once I have a place of my own, I'm considering going to yard sales and farm auction to look for wood/glass display cases. Before the years of custom action figures, people used these types of cabinets to show off teacups, Royal Dolton statues, and the good silver. I figure that after sealing it against dust and installing a light it would make a good showcase.
I'm actually in the process of preparing to make display cases for mine. They're all wood with a wood backing that has the gaps totally sealed to prevent dust from getting in and sheets of plexi on the front with the same type of seal. The wood is the cheap part unfortunetly. I used to use the plastic display cases you see for model cars.
I mostly display it, but if it's scratch proof I'll play with it for a little. The downside is dust will coat your figure later on and it's a pain to wipe off. I haven't really thought of storing other than when I moved I put them in plastic baggies.
