NECA RE5 Chris Redfield

I've seen 2 customs that made use of this figure quite easily, I need some advice though.

1. How can I easily separate the upper and lower body? They are both needed in good condition for 2 customs.

I'm really afraid to crack a figure open, especially since it just ran me kind of a lot.... well nearly $50 to get the 2 figures. Chris was only $15, but I had to get him shipped here.

There must be an easy way to get his legs off, I read someone's custom where they simply screwed Chris's legs onto a Leon figure, how was that possible?
