does anyone have any ideas on what to use to make straps or belts without using parts from other figures and is fairly easy to aquire.

I actually had the same idea myself but I can't figure out how to make the middle part where the strap should be attached.

sheet styrene? it will take practice but you can cut the center out if you use a straight edge to guide the blade.

I've actually decided to cut the straps from leather but now I need to figure out how to make a belt buckle.

Rubber from an old shoe or some halloween mask, just cut small straps and fit to the figure, I always made a paper mold before do the strap.

you might be able to sand the backs down a bit to make them a bit more flexible. Some of them have a fairly thick back.

I used medical tape called Ecopore on my last one, it doesn't stick out from the figure much but when painted it has a nice fabric type look to it. Plus you could probably pinch some from a first aid box somewhere!!

Rubber bands, foam cut out, that's what I use mainly.
