New to customizing, any help for a newbie?

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello all. I am new to the board and new to customizing. I have been collecting figures for years. I was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks for me. What are the best tools to get/use, best paint, etc...

Id like to make several figures. A lot of Power Ranger characters, Avatar: The Last Airbender figures, a hole line of Tigersharks figures, and figures from the Australian show Spellbinder (it aired on the Disney Channel in America some years ago) All are some of my favorite shows. Any help would be appreciated. You can post here, e-mail me, or IM me. This is something I am really wanting to learn to do. I know it will take time and practice, but I am always wanting to make characters not produced, or correct figures that I don't feel live up to what they should. There are a lot of figures I would really love to do over time, so some help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

GR1

I found a box of random figures I've gotten in ebay lots some time ago, so I think Im going to start by trying to clean and restore some of them. Then maybe try to customize a few. I found the little rita replusa I made along time ago out of a happy meal toy. It isnt very good, but I needed an empress of evil.

Here I took a pic of her for you all, feel free to laugh.

yeah thats the best way to start is with repaints and some mods, and don't worry if your first isn't that great, none of us start out with customs looking like kyle's or jin's

You could always start with repaint or minor sculpting, those are always easy to do, then work your way up to harder stuff.

I read through all the tutorials, and learned a lot. I'm going to have to save up and get a dermal and supplies. Wonder what figure I should try to make first? Should probably start off with something simple.

nice yeah I never understood why they didn't make his morpher... he's the one kids always played as.... heck they even made the blue ranger... nobody wanted to be billy... man I miss that show it was great, funny though if you think about it that nobody ever noticed when they left right at danger or that they basically wore one color outfits all the time...
