So I was watching Spider-Man: TAS and Spider-Man Unlimited today and noticed a lot of bad guys liked to call Spidey "insect". That inspired me to want to create an insect themed character. The only problem is I can't think of any crawling insects (ones with no flight abilities) that aren't already taken or would make a good hero or villain theme. Any suggestions?
I like that. Should it be a villain or hero...hmm. well anyway I'm going to draw up some concept ideas for The Mosquito.
You guys can keep this topic running if you want, there is still a lot of design aspects to think of like "how will he drain energy?", and I might not go with this idea either. Plus maybe this thread will inspire other customizers
planeria, not really an insect but kinda a worm, hes blind but sees in a way similar to daredevil, but uses smell intead of hearing, and he doesn't have eyes, jst black patches were they should be, and he can tear himslef intwo and become two hims, and when hes cut in parts those parts become new hims
How about Silverfish? Here my idea for a power set for this character, it involves a little science so bear with me. Objects are solid, but the atoms that everything are made of are mostly empty space. So give this character the ability to move the atoms in his body through the empty spaces of other atoms. So with solid objects it could give him/her limited intangibility, but with things like air/water he/she would act more like a speedster since they could zip quickly through things. Since silver fish have the three large cerci on them you could also give the character enhanced sensory perception to aid in the use of the abilities. You could change of tweak any of that. I could go on further about it, but its late. Hit me up with a pm if needed.
Young Cicada ( while in larval state ). Powers-can shut down and hibernate for infinite periods of time to recover from wounds and rejuvenate . While in this state it is vunerable and hence forth must hide in a remote area. This also makes it technically immortal as it does not age when in statsis so it could for example fight spidey, be beaten by spidey, rest for 60 years and wake up fresh and young while spidey is an old man-and henceforth easily killed off. Maybe super strength (generic power) as well?

What about Mosquito? He could suck energy/powers instead of blood!
Or whatabout Louse? He just has a big ole armoured segmented carapace!!
he got the ability to multiply, and fuse with the copies, threfore giving him a hundred legs!
