iron man colors

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hi guys,
I'm totally new at painting models. I'm currently building this Moebius Iron Man model kit. I'm having some issues with the paint job. What colors should I get to get that shiny metallic colors that Iron Man has? Even though I'm new, I really wanna get that professional look like

First I sprayed a sample piece with Testor's Flat Gray primer, followed by Testor's Metallic Gold spray, and then regular brushing of Testor's Metallic Red The color came out a shiny burgundy. This is the color now:

But then I saw this other pic but looks like the same model...but to me this one looks like burgundy??

Doesn't that look burgundy to you guys?
Should I not use the gray primer and go find a black one?

So yea basically I really don't know how I should paint him and what colors to use. Like that I should go out and buy or what. Any advise guys? Thanks.

You might try mixing a little metallic black with the red to darken it and just experiment with it till you get the right color. Or see if you can find a shade of maroon that matches
