how to fix a figure that leans?

Posted in Custom Workstation

I have the 6" mcfarlane doarthy from the twisted land of oz series, and she seems to be leaning more and more to her left and bending at her left ankle, does any one have any advice on how to fix this? I took her off the display so she doesn't bend any more, all help is appreciated

Before you do this wait! Most of the time you can fix a bend by just heating the figure up till it is very hot and holding it in the position you want it in while it cools (I run cold water on mine to get them to cool faster).

Any hardware store should have them. A wire coat hanger will work in a pinch.

I usually get mine in Sears Hardware, tiny metal rods or tubing.

1 - Drill a hole through the feet going a bit further over the ankle.
2 - Instert a metal rod inside the hole
3 - Works everytime !

I'm not familiar with the figure, but it sounds like it could be a couple things. You said it was bending at the ankle, does the ankle have a joint? If it does it's probably a loose joint, in which case use the superglue trick to tighten the joint. Or if its just a piece of plastic that is bending, then it means the plastic isn't strong enough to support the figure and you can use a pin vise to insert a small rod to strengthen that section.

Or you could take the cheates way out and just put a few small dabs of superglue on the feet to keep it upright. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I've never seen the figure your talking about so this is just off the top of my head.
