What kind of schulpt is used fore making statues?

I was wondering what kind of schulpt is used fore making statues? I'm loocking fore somthing I could use to make very large things that would be effordible.

They also sometimes use a special wax for sculpting that way they can make the mold and heat it and the wax melts out and can be reused.

I would think most art/craft stores, like Hobby Lobby, would have a good section of clay. As far as what kind, I'm not sure, but you want to with something firm, to extra firm...and you may need to get armature wire if the piece is gonna have some size to it.

A good air dry clay would be best for making a statue, I would think. Could get it in bulk, would save on the overall cost.
