im from the philippines and they sell strong magnets in our local school supplies / book store. it comes in different sizes, and I think its also the same as rare earth magnets.. and yes, even the smallest ones (smaller than the diameter of a pencil eraser) are pretty strong.
maybe they also sell similar kind of those magnets on arts and crafts shop near you.
regarding on how to use it on the fig, I think you should drill holes at the back of the body (holes should be just the same size as the magnets) and bury the magnets so that only the surface of the magnets can be seen, that way, it won't be too noticeable even if you remove the symbiote tendrils. you can also cover the surface of the magnets with a thin layer of plumbers putty if you want so that it would really be invisible. it would still hold the other magnet attached to the tendrils into place even if its covered. I've tried to put half an inch of plastic in between the two magnets and they still attract/hold each other...
I've used metal wires for the symbiotes of my venom, (you can also use twisties). I drilled holes only as small as the wires and then covered the protruding wires with hot glue, (the part of the wire that goes in to the hole isn't covered with hot glue, that way, the holes won't look so obvious and big even if the symbiote tendrils were removed... (but it still have holes though... )
the best advice I could give you would be to find a drill that will make holes that are about the size of the tendril, so that you can just put them in and it'll be a tight fit. Thats what I did on my Symbiote Deadpool. Other people might have better ideas though.
