Went to the shops today...

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

..I am currently making a custom of Mystique, and am assembling parts for others. Anyway, I want to make pouches/ pockets, bands etc , so I went to a craft shop to buy Sculpy or Apoxie.

They looked at me like I asked to sleep with their sisters.

So I went to a specialist model shop. Same reaction.

Due to its' wide uses on here, I kind of assumed it would be easy to snag, but all I can get hold of is milliput, but that's for filling gaps and cracks. It'd be nightmare to scult with.

I am in the UK, but that shouldn't matter should it??

What types of stores do you get it from, and what the hell is it? How do I describe it , in case the brand name is different?

Help out dudes!!!!

So now you see why it's confusing. The people who buy the damn stuff can't decide what it is!!!!!

Hrm, my stepdad told me epoxy is a type of glue... dunno how accurate that is, but he seemed pretty convinced that apoxie and epoxy are different things entirely.

EDIT: Looked it up and yep, Epoxy is a type of glue. They use it on surfboards.

They might call it "Epoxy" instead of "Apoxie", but that really shouldn't matter, it's pronounced about the same :P

Most people get the Apoxie Sculpt through the mail, Sculpy is easy to buy at most craft stores here in the US. You could try buying some craft-porcelain, I hear it's about the same as using apoxie.
