I need to make a sword for a custom but I have'nt got any other swords or even anything close, so the only other option I can think of is to start from scratch.

so any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

For making the blade, my rule is first focus on blade shape and then worry about the edge after that. You'll want to give it a tang, that'll help make it strong. If you just make the blade and glue it to the hilt it will always break. (google sword tang if your not sure what it is.)

cut a piece of a staff for the handle and find a thick random piece of plastic and dremmel the hell out of it thats what I do.
