How do you remove a jacket?

This is probably a noob question, but I was wondering how you remove a jacket off a figure and re-attach it to another figure? Specifically, I wanted to take an ML Professor X jacket and put it on an ML6 Punisher body. Is it an easy process or does it require a bit of surgery? I ask because I don't own a Professor X and was considering buying one.
