I've been trying my hand at a few customs lately in the 12" scale mainly using Marvel Icons as a base, but have never actually removed any body parts in a way I can use them later.
Is the boil & pop method the easiest for removing the legs of these guys (and if so, which joints should I be focusing on to remove them at? the ball-hip or the ball-leg joints), or am I better heating the joints up with a hair dryer and gently pulling them apart?
If it makes a difference, it's the Icons Iron Man legs I'm after.
Both should work although I should think you'd have to get them pretty darn hot due to the thickness of the plastic. Personally I always remove the ball joint from the crotch piece (by drilling two or three small holes in it then prying it apart) and from the leg. That way you can paint and glue shield the ball joint easier. If you're just after switching out the bottom part then I'd just heat then push the peg through at the lower joint. Hope this helps mate and welcome to the realm!!
