Car- Please Read

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey,

Okay, REALLY need some help with this one. I decided to repaint my old Gearhead car, but the primer I used wouldn't bond and I ended up with a HUGE mess. I don't think I'll be able to sand all that paint out.

So, I was wondering if any of you knew where I could find a replacement. Here's what the car looks like-

There aren't any serial numbers to be found on it, so I have no way of knowing where it was made or who made it. I only know that it came in a Wal*Mart Easter basket four years ago. The cheap plastic and the amount of flak on the toy signify that it might be some kind of foreign bootleg of an existing toy. Maybe this mold was used before in an existing line? If it's any help, the original toy was black and red with a chrome cockpit and sticker decals, and had a huge spoiler with spinning wheels on the back.

Sorry for the long message, but, as you can see, I'm desperate. Please let me know if any of you know anything about this car and put the word out that I'm looking for it. I am willing to pay $40 for it.

Thanks for reading,
EJ

you might be better off going to autozone or lowes and getting a jug of "Power purple". it's a eco friendly degreaser. I never heard of it eating plastic and I use it to strip paint off all sorts of stuff. it's about 15.00 for a giant jug and works great on anything you need degreased.

Test the acetone on part of the plastic that can't normally be seen first, it could melt the plastic. To go with pock's suggestion, try scrubbing the car with an old toothbrush while using the acetone or hot soapy water.

You might be able to remove the paint from the car with acetone. If that doesn't work than try dissembling the car and looking for any information printed on it. Even little things like made in china might help find it but look for cereal numbers and a company name.
