Generations Optimus Prime LED eyes

Hi guys, I've seen some people adding LED eyes to the Generations Optimus Prime (aka War for Cybertron Prime). I would like to do the same thing but I have no idea where to begin; I find the cavity too small and even if I have really small smd leds, I have no idea how to place them and wire (placement) the whole thing.
Any ideas or experiences will be greatly appeciated.
