Working with foamie sheets????

I've seen several posts and custom figures where the customizers have used foamie sheets. I read something about using super glue to glue them. Could you use super glue brushed on to harden them? My second question is what paint to use. Will acrylic paint work. I've got an idea for making action figure chairs using plastic drink bottle parts as a frame then adding foamies to shape the chair.
