Best way to go about making futuristic weapons?

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey realmers! I've gotten a lot of help from you guys in the past from other customs I've made, so I'm back in need for more help!

I'm making 3 3/4's versions of my characters, as the bases I'm using are more posable and that's something I wanted at the beginning. What I need help with is..how would I go about making a decently wide but somewhat thin see-through sword/axe? Also, I'm making futuristic esque guns that resemble rectangles..

Reference image of the weapons in question

I'd just use those, but 1.) they are way too large, and not in scale with a 3 3/4's inch figure, and I'd like the weapons to be partially see through.

The only idea I could really come up with is to take hot glue and sort of sculpt it out for the sword/axe...but am not too sure about the guns. I could just sculpt them from scratch using sculpy, but I'm unsure at the moment if that's what I wanna do.

Any suggestions?

Cockpit canopies from vehicles would probably be a good place to start.

I was thinking something like that actually. I would have no idea how to work with resin, and I think I'd more than likely just end up messing it up if anything.

I think plastic would be the best way to go, I just need to find some that's relatively thick..

If you aren't comfortable with working with resin, as bobtheodd suggested, you could try cutting clear, or tinted, glass (or plastic, if you can find some thick enough) into the shape of the blades for the sword/axe and then attaching that to the weapon's shaft.

If you want them transparent, make them, mold them, then cast them in clear resin. The resin will take dye if you wish them to have a hue.
Thats all I got.
