Sealant for chrome paint?

Posted in Custom Workstation

I need to find a sealant that works on chrome paint that doesn't dull the color down. Does anyone know one that would work for this? I've tried testors glosscote, and Krylon Crystal Clear. Both of them dull the chrome to the point that it looks like steel. Can anyone suggest a better sealant, or should I not bother and just leave it unsealed?

It's a powder you rub with a cloth over gloss black, giving you a sensational mirror-like finish. I use MGM Powder, you can get it for 10 $ roughly through internet.

I used Krylon "Premium Original Chrome". It has worked well for me so far, except for when I try to seal it.

What exactly is chrome powder? Is that like a casting powder or something?

You can try Humbrol Gloss varnish, I used for my Cooler custom a gloss varnish for acrylic paints (from an artshop). It works well, at least for the chrome powder I use, but maybe not for chrome paint.

What chrome do you use?

Did you try just regular craft paint sealer? It makes it look extra shiny, but other than that it looks the same.
I did indeed. It gave it an extra shiny finish, but still muted the color of the chrome. Everything I use seems to turn the chrome into a dull silver. I'm starting to think the physics of the chrome paint prevent any sort of sealer from being used.
