Removing paint

Posted in Custom Workstation

best way to strip paint off a custom figure. I used model masters enamel it was too blochy so I am stripping it and starting over.

I've had to strip a figure once, he's about half way down this page in my Wips

As you can see the paint is pretty hideous, I managed to get the paint down to this by soaking him in white spirit (I believe it's called mineral spirits in the states) and giving him a good scrub with a scouring pad.

I've found that acitone works great for removing most paints. But be careful, if used on the wrong kind of plastic it can melt or warp the plastic. I suggest using small amounts on a Q-tip and testing them on the bottom of the figures foot or somewhere where it doesn't matter before you get started. You can also carefully sand off paint but that is a real pain so I'd only do that if I had no other options.
